Nationality
- Candidates must be citizens of India as per Indian citizenship.
Age
- For Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC special entry: candidates should be 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2025 i.e. born between 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2005.
- Upper age limit: Candidates should have holding valid and current commercial pilot licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1999 to 01 January 2005.
- Ground Duty (Technical & non technical branch) : candidates should be 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2025 i.e. born between 02 January 1999 to 01 January 2005.
Marital status
- Candidates should have been unmarried at the time of commencement of the course and marriage is not permitted during the training period.
- Those candidates who marry during the period of training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditure incurred on them by the Government.
Educational qualifications
Flying branch.
- Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and
- Graduate with a minimum 3 years degree course in any discipline from recognized university with 60% minimum required marks. Or
- BE/B.Tech degree ( 4 years) from a recognized university with 60% of minimum marks.
- Candidates who have cleared section A & B examination of Associate membership of institution of engineers (India) or Aeronautical society of India from a recognized University with 60% minimum required marks.
Ground duty (Technical) Branch
- Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): candidates with a minimum of 50% marks in each subject of Physics and Mathematics at higher secondary level and hold a 4 years degree graduation/ integrated post-graduation qualification.
- Cleared sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks of equivalent in the following disciplines,

- Aircraft maintenance engineering
- Mechanical engineering

Weapon system branch
- candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in the subject of maths and physics at higher secondary level
- Graduation with a minimum of 3 years degree course in any discipline with 60% minimum marks.
- BE/B.Tech (4 years) from a recognized university with a minimum 60% marks.
Administration & Logistics
- Candidates should have passed 10+2 and graduate level in any discipline with 60% minimum marks or cleared section A & B examination of Associate membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical society of India, a recognized university with 60% aggregate marks.
Account branch
- 10+2 passed and graduated in any of the following disciplines with 60% required marks.
- B.Com
- Bachelor of business administration (specialisation in finance)/ Bachelor of Management studies (with specialisation in finance)/ bachelor of business studies (with specialisation in finance)
- qualified CA/CMA/CS/CFA
Education
- Candidates should have passed 10+2 post-graduation with 50% marks in any discipline including integrated course offering PG with 605 marks in the graduation.
Meteorology
10+2 passed and BSc with Physics and mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or four year graduation in engineering/ technology discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following streams.

Physical assessment of the candidates
- In this section, standardised guidelines for the physical assessment of candidates for commissioning through AFCAT into flying branch and ground duty technical and non-technical branches/NCC special entry in the IAF are elaborated.
- All candidates during their induction meet the basic physical fitness standards which will enable them to proficiently undergo the training and the subsequent service in varied climatic and work environments.
- The results of the initial examination are recorded on AFMSF – 2. The complete medical examination consists of:-
- A questionnaire, which is to be carefully and truthfully completed by the candidate and countersigned by the examining medical officer.
- A complete medical and surgical examination including dental examination and gynaecological examination in women.
- An ophthalmic examination.
- An examination of the ear, nose and throat.
- The medical standard spelt out pertains to initial entry medical standards.
