Candidates do not have an age limit for appearing in the JEE Mains 2025. All candidates who passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, 2024, or appearing in 2025 regardless of their age can appear in the JEE Main 2025 examination.

Only the candidates who have passed the Class 12/ equivalent examination in 2023, 2024, or appearing in 2025 will be able to appear for JEE Main 2025. Candidates who appeared in the Class 12/ equivalent examination in 2022 or before and those appearing in it in the year of 2026 or onwards are not eligible to appear for JEE Main 2025.
The JEE Main 2025 exams will comprise three different programs: BTech, BArch, and BPlan. It is to note that the sets of subjects included are different in each program.
Candidates who have passed class 12 in the year 2022 or 2023 or candidates who will appear in class 12 examination in the year 2025 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025. Candidates who have passed class 12 before 2021 or would appear in class 12 after 2025 are not eligible to appear in the exam according to JEE Main 2025 eligibility criteria. JEE Mains will be conducted two times in January and April respectively in 2025.
Candidates can sit for JEE Main irrespective of their percentage in class 12. Candidates should note that there is no need for JEE Main eligibility marks in 12th for sitting in the exam. The eligibility criteria of 75% marks is applied only at the time of admission to the institute.
The eligibility of State in the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2025 means the State from where the candidate has passed Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination by which the candidate becomes eligible to appear in JEE Main 2025. For the purpose of filling up the Application Form, State code of eligibility would not depend upon the native place or the place of residence of the candidate. For instance, if a candidate appears for the Class 12 examination in New Delhi but is a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, then the candidate's State code of eligibility will be Delhi and NOT Uttar Pradesh. If a candidate has passed Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination from one state but appeared for improvement from another state, the candidate's State code of eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed the Class 12 and NOT the State from where the candidate has appeared for improvement. Candidates who have passed/appeared in class 12th from NIOS should choose the State of Eligibility as the State where the study center is located.
For Indian nationals passing Class 12 or equivalent exam from Nepal/ Bhutan the State code of eligibility will be decided based upon permanent address in India as filled up in the passport of the candidate.

The eligibility criteria for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are made by the respective institute and not by NTA. The eligibility criteria for appearing in the examination JEE Main have been decided by NTA only. The information about eligibility criteria for admission to the institute has been provided by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), a counselling authority which admits students to these institutes.
