National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Pattern

The NEET 2025 Exam Pattern states that the exam mode will be a paper-pencil-based test conducted in a single day and shift, quashing the speculations and recommendations made by the NTA Expert Committee on NEET 2025. Announcing the same, NTA has stated, "As decided by the National Medical Commission, it is informed that the NEET (UG) 2025 shall be conducted in Pen and Paper mode (OMR based) in Single day and Single Shift.”

The final NEET 2025 exam pattern and structure will be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) along with the notification and the information bulletin for NEET 2025. The NEET exam pattern 2025 is expected to remain the same as last year. NTA will announce the NEET 2025 exam pattern tentatively in the first week of March 2025, and the exam will be conducted in the first week of May 2025. The NEET 2025 exam date is likely to be announced by NTA in January 2025. As per reports, NTA may revise the NEET exam pattern 2025, based on the advisory and guidelines of the Expert Committee. 

The NTA launched the NEET 2025 official website and posted the updated syllabus on it. Compared to last year, the syllabus has not changed this year. 

According to the NEET UG exam pattern, the test will be conducted in a paper-pencil-based or offline mode for three hours and 20 minutes or 200 minutes, scheduled from 2 PM to 5.20 PM as per the Indian Standard Time (IST). To answer the question of how many questions are there in NEET, it can be said that there will be a total of 200 objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from the NEET subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The Biology section is further divided into Zoology and Botany. Out of this, 180 questions have to be attempted. NEET's total mark is 720.

NEET 2025 Pattern: Question Paper Overview

As per the exam pattern of NEET 2025, each question will carry four answer options, out of which candidates will have to select one option. The circle next to the correct option will have to be shaded with a blue/black ballpoint pen on the OMR sheet. Aspirants aiming to appear for NEET 2025 must be apprised of the NEET exam pattern while preparing. The NEET 2025 exam pattern gives candidates more choices of questions to attempt. In the second section, candidates have to attempt 10 out of 15 questions. 

According to the NEET pattern, the NEET question paper comprises three subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Each subject was divided into two sections. The table given below depicts the NEET subject-wise weightage and breakup of the question paper.

Clarifying the NEET exam pattern, NTA has stated the following instructions:

• Section A consists of 35 questions in each subject (Question Numbers – 001 to 035, 051 to 085, 101 to 135, and 151 to 185). All questions are compulsory.
• Section B consists of 15 questions in each subject (Question Nos – 036 to 050, 086 to 100, 136 to 150, and 186 to 200). In Section B, a candidate needs to attempt any 10 questions out of 15 in each subject.
• Candidates are advised to read all 15 questions in Section B of each subject carefully before they start attempting the question paper. In the case of a candidate attempting more than 10 questions, the first 10 questions answered by the candidate will be evaluated. 

NEET 2025 Exam Pattern: Marks Distribution

As per the marking scheme of the NEET UG exam pattern, each question carries four marks and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The total marks for NEET 2025 will be 720. Here we bring the marking scheme of NEET in detail:
