UPSC Apply Online Process 2025
Although the procedure for filling the “UPSC Application Form 2025” has not yet commenced, applicants can refer to the following steps for the future UPSC online application process:
Step 1: Visit the official UPSC website and click on the “apply online” button on the homepage. Next, click on the link for “One-time registration (OTR) for examinations for UPSC” to proceed.

Step 2: Click on the “New Registration” option and fill in your basic details such as your name, date of birth, mobile number, and the names of your mother or father, etc.
Step 3: After filling in your details, click on submit. If you wish to make any changes to the form, click on “Update/ Change here” or proceed to click on “I agree” if the information provided is correct.
Step 4: After submitting the OTR form, log in to the portal using your phone number or email ID. You will receive an OTP to complete the registration. Upon entering the OTP, you must create a password to log in to the portal to fill your UPSC application form.
Step 5: Proceed to log into the portal and click on Part-1 registration. After reading the instructions for filling the online application form, click on “Yes” to proceed.
Step 6: Fill in additional details such as educational qualifications and address. Continue and click on age relaxation, if applicable.
Step 7: Fill in the details related to your photo identity card, number of attempts, and specific information regarding the UPSC Mains exam. Note: Be cautious when filling in Mains examination details, as no changes will be allowed later.
Step 8: Click on “I agree” to proceed. If changes are required, click on “Update.” After successful completion, print the slip for Part-1 registration.
Step 9: On the Part-2 registration page, upload documents such as your photograph, signature, and photo identity card. Select your exam center and click the button “I have read the declaration and agree.”
Step 10: After the final submission of the registration form, a Registration Number will be provided. Save it for future reference. Applicants can also view or print their completed application form.
Before submitting the registration form, candidates should ensure they are well-versed with the latest UPSC Eligibility criteria.
How to Withdraw UPSC Application Form
Introduced in 2020, UPSC provides candidates with the option to withdraw their application if they choose not to appear for the exam that year. To withdraw an application, follow these steps:
- Visit the UPSC website and click on the “What’s New” section.
- Navigate to the “Withdrawal of Application: Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination.”
- Click on the withdrawal link.
- On the right corner, select the link for “Application Withdrawal.”
- After reading the instructions carefully, click on the “Yes” button.
- Enter your registration ID and click on continue.
- Fill in your details such as Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Mobile Number, etc.
- Finally, click on the “Agree” button to complete the application withdrawal.
Once the withdrawal process is completed, your application will be canceled, and the attempt for that year will not be counted.
Important Instructions for Filling the UPSC Application Form
Applicants must keep the following important points in mind while filling out the UPSC application form:
- Do not leave fields marked with an asterisk (*) as they are mandatory.
- If any changes are required, submit a fresh application with the updated information before the registration window closes.
- Only the registration ID of the latest application will be considered; previous applications will be canceled.
- The online UPSC application form consists of two parts: Part-1 Registration and Part-2 Registration.
- In Part-1 Registration, applicants must provide personal details, educational qualifications, and address.
- In Part-2 Registration, applicants must provide payment details, exam center preference, photograph, signature, photo ID documents, and declarations.
- Details such as optional subjects, exam center, choice of Indian language for the Indian language paper, and medium of examination cannot be changed once the form is submitted.
