The National Testing Agency (NTA) has opened the UGC NET 2025 December session application correction window from December 13 to December 14, 2024 (up to 11:59 P.M). Candidates who have completed the online application process for the UGC NET 2025 December cycle will appear for the exam to attain eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and/ or Assistant Professor. The UGC NET 2024 December session exam will be conducted from January 3, 2025, to January 16, 2025. The NTA extended the application form submission's last date. The UGC NET 2024 Application form dates were November 19 to December 11, 2024 (up to 11:59 PM). 

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

The candidates must check the age eligibility criteria to appear in the UGC NET 2025 exam. The age eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professor has been given below for the candidates:

UGC NET Educational Eligibility The UGC has updated the guidelines to fill out the application form for the UGC NET exam. Check the latest guidelines to appear in the UGC NET exam below:

  • From the UGC NET 2025 exam, candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree course (in any stream) can appear for the UGC NET exam.
  • The UGC NET test is open to those who have earned their Master's degree.

Age Limit for JRFApplicants less than or equal to 30 years can apply for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). According to UGC norms, the SC/ST/OBC category candidates get relaxation.

Age Limit for Assistant Professor There is no upper age limit to apply for the Assistant Professor exam. Candidates who have completed their post-graduation or appeared in their final year can apply for the UGC NET assistant professor position.

UGC NET Age Relaxation Criteria

The age relaxation for the UGC NET/JRF exam has been given below for the candidates. The relaxation is given to the candidates according to the UGC norms fixed by the Indian government:

  • The candidates from SC/ST/OBC/Female/PwD/Third Gender will get age relaxation up to 5 years.
  • The research scholars will get an age relaxation of up to five years, depending on the period spent on research.
  • The LLM candidates will get up to 3 years of age relaxation.
  • Candidates from the armed forces will get up to 5 years of age relaxation depending on the period of service in the defense forces.

Steps to avail of the UGC NET application form correction facility are mentioned below:

  1. Visit the official website of the exam.
  2. Login using the application number and password.
  3. Click the link/button to correct the UGC NET application form.
  4. Click the "I Agree" checkbox after reading the instructions.
  5. The "Proceed for Application" button should be clicked.
  6. Make the required modifications to the application.
  7. Press the "Submit" button.
  8. Click on the checkboxes at the bottom of the page after reviewing the changes made.
  9. If there is an additional fee, pay it.
  10. Press the button marked "Final Submit."
  11. The updated Confirmation Page should be printed out.

How do I apply online for the UGC NET exam @ugcnet.nta.ac.in?

Filling out the UGC NET application is divided into five stages: registration form, application form, image & signature upload, application fee, and confirmation page. Candidates must follow the steps below to apply online for the UGC NET 2025.

Step 1: Fill UGC NET Registration Form

Candidates must first register for UGC NET 2025 by going to the exam's official website. Candidates must then click the "Fill Application Form UGC NET 2025" button at the bottom of the website. When the button is clicked, a new page will open. Applicants need to download the information leaflet and click the New Registration option. Candidates must then click the "Click Here to Proceed" button after checking the box at the bottom of the page. When candidates click the button, the UGC NET registration page will appear on the screen. The information must be entered on the registration form.

Step 3: Upload Images and Signature

Next, candidates must upload their scanned images and signatures per the specifications in the table below.

Step 4: Pay the UGC NET Application Fee

Candidates can pay the UGC NET 2025 application fee through the SBI/HDFC/Syndicate/ICICI/Paytm payment gateway (debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI).

Step 5: Download the Confirmation Page

A confirmation page will be generated on successful application fee payment. Candidates must take at least four printouts of the confirmation page and keep them for future reference. Thereafter, the UGC NET 2025 application process will be complete.

The qualifying marks are as follows:General or Unreserved category: 40% aggregate marks in both papers combined. PWD/SC/ST/OBC Non-Creamy Layer/Transgender candidates: 35% aggregate marks in both papers combined.

Is PhD compulsory for the UGC NET 2025 exam?

Candidates holding a 4-year undergraduate degree are eligible to apply for the UGC NET exam but are not eligible to apply for the position of Assistant Professor. However, they can pursue a PhD and later become eligible to apply for the Assistant Professor role.

What is a good score in UGC NET?

A good UGC NET score for the unreserved category is around 199 for Assistant Professor 97 for JRF & Assistant Professor, 99 and 97 in Commerce, and 99 and 97 in English.
