DAV University, Jalandhar, Punjab – Scholarship Schemes for 2024-25

DAV University has been offering a comprehensive scholarship scheme to students from various backgrounds so that they can assume their academic excellence and promote student admissions through several categories of more underprivileged and merit-based admission. The scheme for the same scholarship for 2024-25 has been as follows:.

1. Merit-Based Scholarships

DAV University provides scholarships based on students' academic performance at the eligibility level, rewarding high-achieving students with tuition fee waivers.

  1. Students with 95% - 100% Marks (Category Code: M11)
    Students scoring 95% or higher in their eligibility exams are eligible for a 100% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee. To retain this scholarship in the following years, they must maintain a CGPA of 9 or higher.
  2. Students with 90% - 94.99% Marks (Category Code: M22)
    Students who score between 90% and 94.99% receive a 75% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee, applicable for the first year only.
  3. Students with 80% - 89.99% Marks (Category Code: M33)
    Students with scores ranging from 80% to 89.99% can avail of a 50% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee in the first year, whereas non-DAVIANS in this category receive a 25% waiver.

2. Scholarships for DAVIANS

DAV University offers special concessions for students from DAV institutions, supporting their transition to higher education.

  1. First-Time DAVIANS (Category Code: DAV-DAVU)
    First-time entrants from DAV schools or institutions receive financial aid in the form of a one-time scholarship in their first year:
  • Engineering, MBA & B. Pharma: ₹10,000
  • BA/MA (English), Psychology, Diploma in Yoga: ₹2,000
  • Other Courses: ₹5,000
  1. DAV-to-DAV Transfers (Category Code: DAVU-DAVU)
    Students moving from DAV University to DAV University receive a 50% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee for their first year, supporting continued education within the DAV system.

3. Scholarships for Special Categories

  1. Armed and Paramilitary Wards (Category Code: AM-PM-PP)
    In case of children of Army, Para-Military, or Police personnel up to certain ranks and ex-service personnel (non-gazetted ranks), a 10% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee is given in the first year itself.
  2. Sibling Scholarship
    When two or more siblings study at DAV University simultaneously, the second or third sibling receives a 20% concession on the Annual Tuition Fee. This scholarship remains active as long as both siblings are enrolled.
  3. Wards of DAV University Employees (Category Code: D-Wards)
    For children of DAV University employees:
  • Engineering, MBA, and B. Pharma students: receive a 60% concession on the total fee (excluding security and examination fees).
  • Other programs: receive a 50% concession on the total fee (excluding security and examination fees).

4. Special Concessions and Scholarships

  1. Single Girl Child (Category Code: SGC)
    To support single girl children whose parental income does not exceed ₹2.5 lakhs per annum, DAV University offers a 100% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee for the first year.
  2. North East Students (Category Code: NE-S)
    Students from the North East region receive a 30% tuition waiver for the entire duration of the program. Additionally, they are eligible for a 50% waiver on hostel rent for a base four-seater non-AC room, contingent on hostel occupancy.
  3. Unnat Gram Abhiyan Scholarship (Category Code: UGS)
    Students from five designated adopted villages (Ballan, Daultpur, Sarmastpur, Alawalpur, and Kishangarh) are eligible for a 50% concession on the Annual Tuition Fee for their first year, supporting community development through education.
  4. Sports Scholarship
    Athletically inclined students may apply for sports-based scholarships, details of which are specified in the Sports Policy 2023-24.
  5. DAVUNST Scholarship
    The DAV University National Scholarship Test (DAVUNST) provides financial assistance to students based on test scores, with specifics detailed in the DAVUNST Policy for 2024-25.
  6. Category for Students with 60% - 79.99% Marks (Category Code: M43)
    Students scoring between 60% and 79.99% in their eligibility exams receive a 20% waiver on the Annual Tuition Fee in their first year.

5. Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship

As a result, the Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship is awarded to those financially weak students and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis by a dedicated Scholarship Committee. Subsequent approval by competent authorities is provided for the total amount of approved scholarships that may up to 50% of the annual tuition fee.

Terms and Conditions

  • Behavioral Standards: Students involved in disciplinary issues or found guilty of misconduct will forfeit their scholarship or concession. Recurring scholarships will be withdrawn if students have backlogs or fail to maintain academic standards.
  • Documentation Requirements: Scholarship grants are subject to verification of submitted documents, which must be provided within a specified timeframe.
  • Eligibility: Scholarships apply to first-time admissions in 2024 and cannot be considered as precedents for future years. They are not applicable to short-term or Ph.D. courses.
  • Early Bird Benefits (EBB): EBB incentives are provided as follows: ₹10,000 for Engineering and MBA, and ₹2,000 for certain other programs. Eligible applications must be submitted by June 10, 2024.
  • No Double Benefits: Students are permitted only one concession/scholarship category, chosen from either the 2024-25 scheme or any other special concession approved by university authorities.
  • External Scholarships: Students receiving external scholarships or financial aid from private or government organizations are ineligible for DAV University's internal scholarships or concessions.
  • Scholarship Continuity: Most scholarships are one-time except for certain recurring categories such as M11 (merit-based), Sibling, D-Ward, and North East Student (NE-S) scholarships, subject to annual requests and compliance with conditions.
  • University Authority: The university reserves final decision-making authority on scholarship-related disputes and concerns.
