Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, a distinguished political philosopher, is the name of the university. It is located in Gorakhpur and finds inspiration in the world-famous Gita Press, the spiritual, intellectual, patriotic, and charitable legacies of Gautam Buddha, Sant Kabir, Guru Gorakshnath, Bismil, and Hanuman Prasad Poddar.
Since its founding, the 190.96-acre institution, which has eight faculties and forty departments, has played a significant role in providing Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Western Bihar, and Nepalese citizens with comprehensive education. It is a residential-cum-affiliating state university that covers three districts in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. It has a strong academic history, illustrious alumni, knowledgeable, dedicated faculty, an open and effective administrative structure, plenty of opportunities for professional advancement, state-of-the-art research facilities, and a safe and vibrant campus.
There are forty-five furnished rooms in the hostel. There are two students sharing the rooms. Each level features a shared bathroom as well as attached bathrooms for each room.
For both boys and ladies, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University offers dormitory accommodations. Basic facilities include TVs, laundry services, common areas, leisure rooms, water purifiers, security, and surveillance systems are available in every hostel.
The hostel offers a separate dining area where guests can eat. Under the direction of the Warden, it is run on a cost-basis by the residents. The residents of the mess are fed nutritious meals. The residents' council chooses the menu. There will be dining hall service for meals. Non-resident dining member (NRDM) privileges may be extended to full-time, legitimate college students. For day scholars, college employees, and residents' guests to eat in the mess, a coupon system will be provided.
The hostel features a fully air-conditioned common area for guests' leisure. There, locals are free to relax and spend time together. There are periodicals and newspapers available in the common area. For the occupants' amusement, there is also television.
In addition to an outdoor archery range, the college/hostel offers indoor facilities for squash, badminton, table tennis, carom, chess, and gymnasium.
There is a first-aid box at the hostel. In the event of an emergency, the local guardian is notified and the resident is transported to the closest hospital. After then, the parents or local guardian must assume full responsibility for the patient's care and associated costs; the college will not be held accountable in any manner for the patient's continued medical care. In the event of illness, residents are strongly urged against using self-prescribed medication.
In 1990, the year the college was founded, the library at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College opened with a meagre 2229 volume book collection. The library now brags of having a collection of about 50,000 documents and is completely computerised.
The library serves as a vital forum for scholarly discussion and intellectual exchanges, which makes it an essential part of teaching-learning methodology.
A variety of non-book materials, including CD-ROMS/DVDs, audio cassettes, and bound volumes, are included in the library's collection. These materials cover a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, computer science, electronics, political science, economics, commerce, technology, arts, English/Hindi/Sanskrit literature, history, and general reading.
The library is divided into several sections that are each located over three large floors totalling 2550 square meters. The general layout of the library is as follows:
Third-floor stack area: This section contains subject-specific textbooks and additional books that are mainly intended for teacher and student circulation.
Reference Collection- This consists of closed-access reference volumes arranged thematically in bookcases.
Reading Hall- In the seating section, more than 220 pupils can fit comfortably. This location's collection of textbooks, which are housed in locked bookcases, is strictly for consultation.
Third-floor Circulation Counter: This counter handles all issue-return transactions. This section contains some of the syllabi, question papers, and titles that are frequently consulted. This desk handles reference enquiries, library membership card issues, clearing requests, late fines, etc.
Inside the main building on campus is the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch of the college. Furthermore, there is an ATM next to the campus canteen that has the ability to print passbooks.
There is a washing machine provided for people in their homes.
The college features a large, air-conditioned cafeteria that can accommodate about 100 people in seats. Additionally, there is an AMUL counter where students can purchase AMUL items. The cafeteria's ambiance is appropriate and its furniture is excellent.
The college has a centrally located, air-conditioned computer centre that can accommodate up to 200 people, facilitating network-based education and learning. The ICT infrastructure is made up of servers, desktop computers, and a ten gigabit fibre backbone that offers LAN and WLAN (Wi-Fi) dedicated Internet connectivity. It makes it easier for teachers and students to have access to an excellent teaching and learning environment.
