It was started in 1984-85 and is one of the first private engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh state. GPREC has been an autonomous institution since 2006. The college is being run by G. Pulla Reddy Charities trust, Hyderabad. The trust was founded by late Sri G.Pulla Reddy Garu in 1977 with a motto of providing service to the society.
