IIIT Hyderabad is an autonomous university that provides courses in engineering. B.Tech, M.Tech, MS by research, PhD, and PGSSP are available at IIIT Hyderabad. Admission to each offered program is entrance-based. It accepts national-level entrance exam scores such as JEE Mains and GATE for admission to B.Tech and PhD respectively. Exams such as UGEE, PGEE, and LEEE are all conducted by IIIT Hyderabad for admission to other different UG and PG programs.
IIIT Hyderabad PGEE 2025 and UGEE are scheduled for May 2025 and the second session of JEE Mains is to be held in April 2025, interested candidates can enroll and appear for such exams as direct admissions are not offered at IIIT Hyderabad. Undergraduate programs at IIIT Hyderabad include B.Tech in ECE and CSE branches. The seat intake in the B.Tech program is approx. 170. Admission to the B.Tech program is primarily based on JEE Mains percentiles. IIIT Hyderabad Dual degree programs include B.Tech-MS by research. Lateral entry is also allowed in the dual degree program. UGEE is conducted for admissions to dual degree programs and if a candidate is seeking admission through lateral entry, then he/she has to appear for LEEE. Post the written exam, an interview of the shortlisted candidate is conducted for admission.

IIIT Hyderabad Postgraduate programs include M.Tech and PGSSP. The number of seats available for M.Tech admissions is 180. PGSSP is for working professionals and is offered in part-time mode. Admissions to PGSSP are open in Monsoon and Spring semesters every year. A postgraduate entrance exam is conducted for admission to PG courses at IIIT Hyderabad. IIIT Hyderabad research programs include PhD and MS by research. Both these programs require thesis submission in the final year of study. As financial assistance, a monthly stipend of ₹31,000 to ₹35,000 is provided to students. The other details related to PhD admissions are mentioned below.

The IIIT Hyderabad Application process is online and the same process is to be followed for each program. However, different applications are to be filled out for UGEE, LEEE, and PGEE exams which are conducted by IIIT Hyderabad itself. The common application process for all the programs of IIT Hyderabad involves the following steps.

The JEE Main scores determine the cut-off for IIIT Hyderabad's B.Tech in the CSE program. In the first round of JEE Main, the cut-off score for IIIT Hyderabad's B.Tech. in the CSE program is anticipated to fall between 367 and 839.
Students who wish to enroll in IIIT Hyderabad's B.Tech in CSE program must have a valid score in either JEE Main, UGEE, Olympiad, DASA, SPEC, or LEEE.
International students will be admitted to IIIT Hyderabad under the DASA scheme. They must have completed classes 10th and 12th from PCM and hold a foreign passport. SAT scores will be used to offer them admission.
UGEE consists of two tests, i.e. SUPR and REAP. The syllabus of these two is the same as in classes 11th and 12th for Maths, Physics, and Chemistry. The sample papers are available on the IIIT Hyderabad website for reference.
At IIIT Hyderabad, B.Tech is available in two streams, ECE and CSE. The branch change is allowed after the second year. Also, it is usually possible to go from a four-year program to a dual degree program before the end of the third year. It is not allowed to switch from a dual degree to a four-year program.
Candidates can select the specialization at the end of the second year at IIIT Hyderabad for a dual degree program.
For B.Tech programs, the SPEC mode is a Special Channel for Admission. The goal of this channel is to identify talented students who are facing difficult situations.
