These include Institute Scholarships awarded for excellence in academics, sports, arts, and leadership; Donor Scholarships funded by alumni and well-wishers; the Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship for economically weaker students; and Free Basic Messing Assistance for SC/ST and low-income students. Each category is designed to recognize talent and provide financial assistance where needed.

Who is eligible for the Institute Scholarships at IIT Gandhinagar?

At IIT Gandhinagar, all undergraduate (UG) students, excluding first-year students, are eligible for Institute Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded under four categories: Academic Excellence (highest CPI in each discipline), Sports & Games, Arts & Culture, and Social Work & Leadership. Each award offers INR 2,000 per month for a duration of 10 months, recognizing not just academic talent but also extracurricular and leadership contributions.

What is the Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship at IIT Gandhinagar?

The Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship at IIT Gandhinagar is intended to assist academically bright students from financially challenged backgrounds. It provides financial support of INR 1,000 per month to eligible students. Selection is based on academic merit (CPI) and an annual parental income limit, ensuring that deserving students can continue their education without financial hardship.

What is the Free Basic Messing Assistance at IIT Gandhinagar?

IIT Gandhinagar offers Free Basic Messing Assistance to undergraduate (B.Tech) and MSc students in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry disciplines, whose parental annual income does not exceed INR 4.5 lakhs. Under this scheme, eligible students receive free basic mess facilities and a pocket allowance of INR 250 per month for 10 months, to help reduce their day-to-day living expenses.

How many donor scholarships are available at IIT Gandhinagar?

IIT Gandhinagar provides over 80 donor-funded scholarships annually. These scholarships vary in value, ranging from INR 20,000 to INR 2,00,000 per year. They are awarded based on a combination of academic performance (CPI), financial need, discipline of study, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Some scholarships are open to all students, while others are restricted to specific years, departments, or gender.

What is the minimum CPI required for donor scholarships at IIT Gandhinagar?

Most donor scholarships at IIT Gandhinagar require students to maintain a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5. However, there are exceptions. For instance, the Kandoi-Dairkee-Gaurav (KDG) Scholarship requires a minimum CPI of 6.0, while the Prof. DV Pai Scholarship has a higher threshold, requiring a CPI of at least 7.0. These CPI requirements help ensure that recipients are maintaining consistent academic standards.

Are there scholarships for first-year students at IIT Gandhinagar?

Yes, IIT Gandhinagar offers several scholarships specifically for first-year students. These include the Vegshakti Mahila Kalyan Sangathan (VMKS) Scholarship for female students, the Lakshmi Vadali Excellence Scholarship for top-ranking female students with limited family income, and the Satyaram Scholarship, which may continue up to four years based on academic performance. These awards aim to encourage students right from the beginning of their academic journey.

Can students at IIT Gandhinagar receive multiple scholarships?

Students at IIT Gandhinagar may qualify for multiple scholarships. However, if a student is awarded two scholarships of equal or higher value, they are typically granted only the more substantial one. In such cases, the Institute may offer a one-time benefit, such as a lump sum amount, instead of the full monthly scholarship. This ensures that financial aid is distributed fairly while avoiding duplication of benefits.

Are there scholarships specific to disciplines at IIT Gandhinagar?

Yes, several scholarships at IIT Gandhinagar are tailored to specific academic disciplines. For example, scholarships like the Niteen P Sant Scholarship are designated for students in Civil or Material Science Engineering, while others prioritize Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering students. These discipline-specific awards aim to promote excellence in individual fields and recognize top-performing students in each area.

How can students apply for scholarships at IIT Gandhinagar?

Students at IIT Gandhinagar can apply for scholarships through the Institute’s official academic or student portal, where calls for applications are announced periodically. The application process usually requires submission of academic records, income certificates (for need-based scholarships), and sometimes a statement of purpose or faculty recommendation. Selection is made based on the fulfillment of eligibility criteria and availability of funds.
