In 1870, Isabella Thorburn College was established as a school. Later, it grew, and on July 12, 1886, it changed its name to Lucknow Woman's College. The fine arts department was the first to be affiliated with the University of Calcutta, and then with Allahabad University. Following the passing of Ms. Thoburn, it was renamed Isabella Thoburn College in 1901. The college is presently associated with the University of Lucknow. It's Asia's first Christian women's college. Since its founding, Isabella Thoburn College has upheld the goal of empowering women via mental and emotional education, which will build their skills and capacities and fortify and empower them to make decisions in the face of hardship.
