The University of Delhi is a Central University functioning under the Act of Parliament. It is recognized as an institution of national importance by the constitution of India. It was established in 1924 by the University of Delhi and is an accredited legal institution by the Bar Council of India for its LLB degree. The faculty of law has a single department- the faculty of law that conducts LLB classes; whereas LLM and Ph.D. are taken care of by the Faculty of Law.
The faculty members are drawn with diversified knowledge and experience. Professors from other Universities including foreign Universities visit on various fellowship programs and conduct research in this institution. A number of delegations from foreign universities visit the department to share their knowledge and benefit the students.
Moot Court Competitions, debates, group discussions, client counselling competitors are regular features in the three Centres of the Department.
In their new recruitment drive they wish to concentrate on developing expertise in corporate laws which generate wealth for the nation. Their department has a long tradition of creating pioneer leaders and social engineers for the country.

Admission
Candidates can take admission to LLB/ LLM courses shall be made on the basis of merit in the common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG)
Candidates must be careful while filling the CUET-PG form as certain fields such as name, signature, and photograph of the candidate will be later auto-integrated by University of Delhi from the CUET-PG portal. These fields will be non-editable in the UoD’s Common Seat Allocation System (PG).
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD/CW will have to upload a valid certificate/ document while applying to UoD’s CSAS-PG. The name of the candidate claiming reservation must watch matches with the candidate’s name as it appears on his/her corresponding school Board qualifying certificates and in CUTE PG.

Counselling for LLB/LLM Admission
The counselling for admission to the first year of LLB/LLM Degree course shall be held as per the University of Delhi Notice on the website.
In the case of online counselling, a candidate need not appear in person. However , whenever the University/ Centres reopen physically, candidates shall submit their original documents for physical verification at the respective centre. The document shall be returned after the verification.
Foreign nationals shall have to make an application for admission through Dean, Foreign students Advisor, the University of Delhi as per University Guidelines applicable to foreign candidates.

Eligibility
Eligibility for law programs. LLB requires a graduate degree with varying minimum marks based on category (50% for general, 45% for OBC/PWD, 40% for SC/ST). LLM also requires a 3 or 5-year LLB degree with similar minimum marks based on category. Finally, a PhD program has an entrance exam with a qualifying mark of 50%.

Placement
The Faculty of Law has its Placement and Internship Committee which work in close collaboration with the Placement and Internship Committees of each Law Centre which assists students in their placement and internship in various law firms, senior lawyers, judges, and other job opportunities offered by big corporate houses and multinational companies, LPOs, KPOs, NGOs and other national and international bodies.
The internship and placement committee of the Law Centre is very active and assists students to get internships and placement. The committee is headed by a senior professor, it also has a student convener and volunteers who work throughout the year under the guidance of the professor convener.
The Placement Committee works around the year and the students participate enthusiastically. Special attention is paid on the personality development of the students, right from the first year of LL.B. course to make them acquire quality legal skills and the ability to face challenges in the legal disciplines. The Committee is working well and students are getting employment with good packages in corporate, NGOs and Law firms. Our Alumni Association also provides all possible assistance for internships and placements to our students.

The students of LLB/LLM and PhD are offered a number of prizes, medals, scholarships, etc, by the University. The Prizes include the University Law Union Prizes, Sukhdevi Girdharilal Grover Prize.

There are 18 hostels for Male and Female students pursuing Full-time postgraduate and research programs in the University. Students of LLB, LLM, MCL and PhD scholars are entitled to allocated a number of the seats in the University Hostels for postgraduate students of Delhi University on the basis of merit as per the rules and procedure prescribed from time to time by the University and the hostel authorities.
