About National Institute of Technology

The National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand was established in 2009 and is located on the banks of the Alaknanda River in Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand. The Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya) founded NIT Uttarakhand through an Act of Parliament, and it is one of the 31 institutes of national importance. It is a public technical university that has received a ranking of 101-150 in the engineering category of the NIRF 2024 Rankings, out of over 1500 institutes across India. NITUK also ranked 33rd in the Engineering category of the India Today Group's Best Colleges 2024 Ranking.

NIT Uttarakhand has signed various Memoranda of Understanding with other universities, both at the national and international levels. National-level MoUs have been inked with universities including IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, IIT Ropar, MNIT Jaipur, and HNB Garhwal University, among others. International MOUs were linked with Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary and National Formosa University in Taiwan.

NIT Uttarakhand provides full-time BTech and MTech programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The Institute also provides PhD programs in engineering, science, and humanities. Admission to NIT Uttarakhand courses is through an entrance examination. The institute takes national-level entrance tests, including JEE Main and GATE, for admission to its respective courses. National Institute of Technology Ranking

NIT Uttarakhand has continually improved its ranking as assessed by various bodies. It has also been ranked "PROMISING" in the category "Institute of National Importance & Central Universities/CFTs (Technical)" by the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) 2021. Furthermore, NITUK has been placed 34th in the engineering category by India Today for 2024.

National Institute of Technology Courses and Fees 2025

NIT Uttarakhand has nine departments, including Civil Engineering, Physics, Computer Science and Engineering, and Humanities and Social Sciences, among others. These departments provide a diverse selection of courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels.

The institute provides a four-year BTech and a two-year MTech curriculum in five fields: Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic & Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

NITUK also provides a PhD programme in all nine departments indicated above, with a total of 40 places available in each academic year.

NIT Uttarakhand admissions in 2025 are based on entrance exams. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Uttarakhand offers a variety of courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and part-time levels, as well as a PhD. Admission to the NIT Uttarakhand BTech program is through JEE Main. Students who meet the eligibility requirements can apply by going to the National Testing Agency's official website. B.Tech. Admission Process:

• Apply through JEE Main: Candidates are required to register and appear for the NTA's JEE Main examination.
• Participate in JoSAA/CSAB Counseling: Shortlisted candidates have to register for JoSAA/CSAB counseling for seat allotment.
• Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted on the basis of JEE Main rank in various rounds of counseling.
• Document Verification: Candidates need to undergo document verification at the reporting center or the institute allotted.
• Payment of Fee: On verification, the candidate has to pay the admission fee to secure their seat.

M.Tech. Admission Process:

• Apply through GATE: The candidates are required to register and appear for the GATE exam organized by IITs/IISc.
• Register for CCMT counseling: Successful candidates need to apply for the Centralized Counseling for M.Tech. (CCMT) according to their GATE scores.
• Seat allotment: Seats are allotted on the basis of GATE rank, preference, and vacancy in various NITs.
• Document verification: Candidates need to submit and verify their personal and educational documents according to the CCMT rules.
• Payment of fees: Once checked, the candidates need to pay the admission fees to secure their place in NIT Uttarakhand.

Ph.D. Admission Process:

• Submit Online Application: The candidates have to complete and submit the Ph.D. application form on the official website of NIT Uttarakhand.
• Shortlisting Based on Eligibility: The institute shortlists the candidates on the basis of academic performance and experience in research.
• Written Test/Interview: Shortlisted candidates have to sit for a written test and/or interview organized by the institute.
• Final Selection: Candidates clearing the test and interview are finalized based on merit and vacancies in research positions.
• Admission Confirmation: Shortlisted candidates need to undergo document verification and pay the admission fee in order to secure their seat.

According to the most recent statistics, 74 job offers were made during the 2023 placements. The overall placement percentages for BTech and MTech were 79.49% and 45.45%, respectively. 62 out of 78 qualified BTech students were placed during NIT Uttarakhand's 2023 placements.
