The National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand was established in 2009 and is located on the banks of the Alaknanda River in Srinagar (Garhwal), Uttarakhand. The Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya) founded NIT Uttarakhand through an Act of Parliament, and it is one of the 31 institutes of national importance. It is a public technical university that has received a ranking of 101-150 in the engineering category of the NIRF 2024 Rankings, out of over 1500 institutes across India. NITUK also ranked 33rd in the Engineering category of the India Today Group's Best Colleges 2024 Ranking.
NIT Uttarakhand has signed various Memoranda of Understanding with other universities, both at the national and international levels. National-level MoUs have been inked with universities including IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, IIT Ropar, MNIT Jaipur, and HNB Garhwal University, among others. International MOUs were linked with Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary and National Formosa University in Taiwan.

How to Reach | By Air: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is about 125 kilometres away. Taxis are accessible from the airport to Srinagar. By train: Rishikesh Railway Station is around 105 kilometres from the university, and Haridwar Railway Station is about 130 km distant. Buses and taxis connect these stations with Srinagar. By Road: Srinagar is well connected by National Highway 58. Regular bus service and private vehicles provide easy access to the institute. |
