The Odisha State Open University, Sambalpur (OSOU) was founded in 2015. It is the 15th and the latest open university in India. The university was founded to impart quality education to all sections of the society. The university emphasizes education, research and training using the latest technology and makes education accessible to the backward and economically weaker sections of the society. The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Odisha State Open University, Sambalpur (OSOU) offers various programmes at the diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Some of the courses are BA Hons, B.Com Hons, BBA, MA Sociology, M.Com, M.Sc Cyber Security and numerous others. There is no such entrance examination for admission. Admission will be made on merit basis depending on eligibility criteria and marks secured at 12th standard or graduation (as applicable). 

Regional centers and study centers have been set up by the university in various regions of the state for the provision of support facilities to the students. The university also develops skill development centers. At present, the university has more than 89 study centers catering to the state of Odisha. The teaching faculty at OSOU Sambalpur is highly qualified and experienced. The students are guided properly. Different seminars and guest lectures are available to the students from time to time.

OSOU Sambalpur Admission 2025

Odisha State Open University Sambalpur provides admission into BA Hons, B.Com Hons, BBA, MA, M.Com and M.Sc courses. Odisha State Open University Sambalpur admission will be based on the merit of the eligibility criteria and the 12th standard or graduation marks (whichever is relevant). There is no entrance examination for admission of such kind. Odisha State Open University, Sambalpur undergraduate and postgraduate courses are prepared online through the university's online admission portal and OSOU Android app. The applicants must apply by filling up the admission form. 

How to apply

1. If you are a new applicant click on the button "NEW REGISTRATION" and enter the details required for registration to the portal. Current applicants will be required to fill form from step no. 3 onwards to continue.
2. Since all messages will be delivered to your email id and mobile no., thus enter your current email ID and telephone number.
3. Log in with your registered email ID and password
4. To Begin the application process, click on "Proceed to Apply"
5. Application is to be Submitted in five Steps Personal Information: Fillup the required data in the application form and Click on "Save & Continue" for the next Step Fill Up your Academic records.
6. Document Upload.
7. Pay the programme fee online through any one of the payment gateways.
8. Edit or Submit Form.
9. Once the final submission, print the copy of your form by making use of the "Print Application Form" option for your reference.

OSOU Sambalpur Placements

OSOU Sambalpur does not offer any campus placement to students. Placement support is given by the university to secure employment in the respective industry. Training and career guidance services are also offered by the university to shape the careers of students by molding their personalities. Career counseling, soft skills training, and entrepreneurship programs are offered by OSOU to equip students for various sectors through these different programs. Based on records, the placement package of the OSOU carried the maximum CTC of 10 LPA, while on average, it was between 3-4 LPA.

OSOU Sambalpur Scholarships 2025

Odisha Open state university[OSOU], provides scholarships to the deserving and worthy students belonging to the SC/ST and OBC under the Prerana Scholarship Scheme. Students need to abide by the college rules to apply for the Scholarship. Up to now, a huge number of students are benefited from this scheme. This scheme is applicable only for the students of backward classes like SC/ST/OBC and not for general category students.
