The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced a new admission process for students enrolling in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programs.
- All candidates must register on the UGC Distance Education Bureau (DEB) web portal, which will generate a unique DEB-ID for each applicant.
- This decision follows the UGC's 581st meeting on June 25, where it was found that some institutions admitted students into unrecognized ODL and online programs, putting students' futures at risk.
- The UGC has urged all higher education institutions to adopt this new process and actively promote it to prospective learners.
