The Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology was established in 1991 under the name Pondicherry Institute of Hospitality Craft (PIHC). In 2003, the institute's name was updated to its current name. This is a government institute, affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education in Chennai. From the academic year 2012, they got recognition from the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Noida and IGNOU.

Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology Admission Process
Admission in PIHMCT Pondicherry will be only in the order of aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination and on a merit basis.
