Ravenshaw University was started in the year 1868 as Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Odisha, under the providership of Thomas Edward Ravenshaw, then the Commissioner of Orissa. During the British period, this institution greatly helped to educate and culturally contribute to the region.
Ravenshaw College was first affiliated with the University of Calcutta. After sometime, it was made a constituent college in 1943 of Utkal University. At that point in time, during this course, in 2006, it became an entirely different university on its own, not only a constituent college, which brought many more developments and enhancements in its academic and research fields.

Refund Policy: Once you pay the admission fee, it cannot be refunded. If you want to leave a self-financing course before the last admission date, you can get your course fee back minus a processing fee of Rs. 1000. After the last admission date (set after the publication of the CHSE/Standard 12 results), the course fee will not be refunded.
Fees for Students with Disabilities: Students with a disability of 40% or more will have all academic fees waived, except for mess charges.
Social Service Guild Fee: The Social Service Guild (SSG) fee has been increased from Rs. 10 to Rs. 20. This fee will be collected from students at the time of admission and readmission starting from the financial year 2020-21.

Documents required
In case of an undergraduate course, the applicant must submit the mark sheet of 10+2, along with valid identity proof, either Aadhar card or voter ID, and two passport-sized photographs. For postgraduate course, the applicant must submit his/her mark sheet of the relevant degree of the above-mentioned undergraduate course; an identity proof; two passport-size photographs; and CPET admission receipt, in case he/she has received it. The rest should be really precise to avoid any kind of confusion regarding the process of admission.

Program-Wise Tuition Fees
Hindi Merit Scholarship
Degree class scholars studying Hindi from non-Hindi speaking regions can avail of Rs. 90 per month.
- Physically Handicapped Scholarship: The scholarship supports degree and postgraduate students with disabilities (40% or more). It gives them Rs. 90 per month for boarders and Rs. 60 for day scholars. The eligible applicant must be aged between 17 and 30 years and must have at least 40% marks.
This scholarship shall be made available to orthopedically or physically handicapped students with a disability certificate and at least 50% marks in the last college exam.
- Jindal Scholarship: Jindal Scholarship is also for degree holders and postgraduate holders. Its amount is Rs 300 per month for both. The scholarship amount is also Rs 1,500 for post-graduates and Rs 1,000 for undergraduates.
- Samaj Scholarship: Samaj Scholarship is provided for poor but deserving students. This scholarship is given for postgraduate students as Rs 1,500 for allowances and for the undergraduate students, which is Rs 1,000.
- Scholarships for Wards of Mine and Bidi Workers: This facility is for children of a mine worker. They get Rs 1,000 for dress and others in allowance, while children of the bidi worker receive Rs 1,000 to study in school.
- Sports Scholarship: There is a scholarship for those students who have participated for a state at the national level competitions, and this scholarship has a amount of Rs 450 per month that are paid up to three years. Students must not be more than 19 years during the time of application of the scholarship.
- Sanskrit Merit Scholarship: Students who choose Sanskrit as an optional during the first year intake can obtain a scholarship of Rs. 60 per month.
- Scheme of Assistance to Disabled Students: This one-time assistance is meant for chronic illness and the disabled students who are pursuing a degree course or PG degrees in order to purchase necessary items like hearing aids, wheelchairs, and other aids.
Prof. Brajabandhu Mishra Memorial Scholarship
Two are offered in the PG Mathematics Department: Rs. 1,200 to one student and Rs. 1,800 to another with attendance of 75 percent or more.

Ravenshaw University campus
Ravenshaw University has hostel facilities both for boys and girls. There are seven boys' hostels and six girls' hostels, which accommodate nearly 3,500 students. Admission to the hostel is strictly on a merit list prepared by each department for its respective programme.
