The college was set up in 1891 and holds a national reputation. It is primarily famous for its BA and B.Com, although the college facilitates other programs such as BBA, MBA, M. Phil, and PhD. Apart from that, the college occupies some decent placement scopes, especially for students who belong to backward classes and are financially unstable. Admission to GACC Indore depends upon the merit in the Common Entrance Test (CET) taken by the college.

Note: A student pursuing a BA (General) has to go with 3 subjects in the first year. He or she needs to choose only one subject from the. A student pursuing a BA (Computer Application) needs to choose an additional two subjects from the groups of subjects offered by the college.

The college invites applications for all the undergraduate and Ph.D. programs. As the name suggests, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Arts and Commerce College (GACC) is especially noted for Arts and Commerce. Still, the other subjects, such as BBA and MB,A are equally treated and taught with great care by the highly qualified and professional teaching staff and experts. The admission process of the college is straightforward and lucid. It is discussed below –
- Collect the application form from the office and fill it out carefully. The necessary documents should be attached to the application form before submitting it. You also have to pay the desired application fees.

GACC Indore Placement
GACC, Indore, has a decent placement infrastructure to boost the students' careers most effectively and flexibly. To manage the placement process, the college has a separate cell, namely The Vivekananda Career Guidance Training and Placement Cell, which came into operation in 2005. They teach the students technical skills and analytical skills along with Personality development for the corporate sector.
GACC Indore Scholarships
As per the rules imposed by the Central Government and the State Government of Madhya Pradesh, GACC, Indore provides scholarships for financially feeble students. They also help students with a comparatively unsteady social background by offering scholarships through financial assistance. However, academic performance is a significant factor in obtaining such scholarships. Following are the scholarships offered in the college under various schemes:
- Post-matric Scholarship: This scholarship is a special type designed exclusively for SC and ST candidates who are domestic residents of Madhya Pradesh. However, this scholarship is restricted to the family income of INR 6 LPA for SC candidates. On the other hand, there is no such restriction for ST candidates.
- Madhya Pradesh Govt. Welfare Scheme: This Govt. scheme includes 7 different other schemes for the students who live in the Madhya Pradesh State. Some are – Gaon Ki Beti, Vikramaditya Scheme, and Scholarships for Differently Abled Students.
- Free Studentship: The Government of Madhya Pradesh launched ‘Medhavi Yojna’ in the year 2017-18 to assist the students more effectively in a benevolent manner. The students who have cleared their 10+2 from Madhya Pradesh Secondary Board, Bhopal, with 70% marks and CBSE and ICSE from Delhi, with 85% marks, are qualified for Free studentship under this Scheme. However, the family income of such students must not be more than INR 6 LPA as the final condition.

- Library: The College has two well-equipped and furnished libraries in its main campus building and the other in its management building separately. The libraries consist of over 2lacks printed books, and more than 7 lack books in different languages, with 3 lacking authors. The libraries also offer the apt scope of E-Library.
- Computer lab: The college occupies two well-maintained and modern computer labs in their main campus building, which includes 51 computers. The labs are properly connected to super-fast internet facilities and properly armed with relevant software for different students falling under different courses.
- English Language Lab: There is no denying the fact that good command over the English language is an essential element in this world. The college has recently established an English Language Lab in the campus building with a vision to improve English and educate the advanced skills of the students. The students can learn and practice every pros and cons of English and benefit from E-Learning.
- Yogic Health Counseling Center: GACC Indore has always channeled special importance to yoga. However, the college has opened this Yogic Health Counseling Center to make a balance between the psychological and emotional factors of the students.
