Shyam Lal College is recognized as a co-educational constituent college of Delhi University. The great visionary and businessman Padmashree (late) Shri Shyam Lal Gupta, who was the Chairman of the Shyam Lal Charitable Trust at the time, founded it in 1964. SLC concentrated on providing kids with a high-quality education, especially the females from the impoverished communities of East Delhi. It often offers remedial and spoken English sessions to students who struggle to keep up with the curriculum.
SLC DU provides one postgraduate course in Hindi along with eleven undergraduate courses in the humanities, sciences, and commerce.
