Tamil Nadu Agricultural University was established as an Agricultural School in Saidapet, Madras in 1868. A few years later, it was relocated to Coimbatore. In the year 1920 it was merged with the University of Madras and looked after the agricultural education and research of South Indian regions. The State Agricultural Department benefited a lot from the new research from this University.
For several decades, it was the only college of agriculture and research institute for South Indians. In the year 1958, it was declared a center of postgraduate studies that conferred Master's and Doctoral degrees. Once again, Madurai saw the establishment of an additional agricultural college in 1965.. Two colleges were the main bases of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University which started functioning officially in the year 1971.
TNAU offers numerous courses. In 1972, it introduced programs in B.Sc. (Horticulture) and B.E. (Agriculture). With the passage of time, more colleges have been established, and newer programs added. In 1985, a Bachelor of Science (Forestry) degree was launched, and in 2002, a Bachelor of Technology (Agricultural Engineering) program.
TNAU has also introduced new courses such as B.Tech. in Food Process Engineering in the year 1998, B. Tech. in Agricultural Biotechnology in 2002, and B.S. in Agribusiness Management in 2007. These courses enhance the skills in new technology and its application in farmland among the students.
Presently, there are more than 32 research centers and above 1,200 scientists and teachers in TNAU. These lead scientists work closely to make new solutions for the farmers and enhance agriculture in Tamil Nadu and other parts of the world.

TNAU Admission-
Tamil Nadu Agricultural University is a university that conducts undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and doctoral programs in different fields related to agriculture. Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, or any other related course with minimum OGPA. The MTech program will need a B.Tech. degree in Agriculture Engineering or Food Technology for the course. For entry into the MBA course, all students will need a bachelor's degree from an accredited agricultural university. All PG admissions are made through entrance exams only.

A PhD is granted by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in a total of 28 fields. Students should have a related Master's degree with a minimum of 7.00 out of 10.00 (OGPA). Admission to the PhD courses is mostly through an entrance exam and an interview conducted by the university.
The online entrance exams for both Master's and PhD programs are conducted through the website, with students having to log in at a specific time to do the test. Prior-preparation in testing is highly critical as the university, to no exceptions, will strictly adhere to the examination schedule. The test is monitored through remote video, and anyone caught cheating will be expelled from the exam. If someone is found to be impersonating another student, their application will be canceled, and legal action will be taken.

You will need to present a few important documents for admission into Tamil Nadu Agricultural University or TNAU. Tnau Placements
The Placement Cell at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) facilitates the placement of students in various industries and develops students' employability skills through various career development activities and guides them to make a career. Campus interviews are conducted during the year and a Job Fair in March/April towards the close of the academic program.
About 60 companies take the campus placements every year and place about 450-500 students through interviews that consist of a written test, a group discussion, and personal interview. The Job Fair also helps place 300-350 students directly at one time. There is also a meeting once every year between the placement officers of various colleges to discuss measures to enhance placement and higher education opportunities.
Some of the companies recruited during the previous years are ITC, Rasi Seeds, Texmo Industries, Cadbury, Mahindra & Mahindra, Axis Bank, and Federal Bank.

The main campus of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) possesses well-equipped hostel facilities both for boys and girls. Boys- There are six hostels for boys supported by modern amenities. Girls- On the main campus, there are four hostels for girls that are equipped with contemporary amenities. There are international hostels for international students. Quarters for visiting professors and external experts exist. There is a refreshment home to cater to the needs of day scholars, staff, and visitors.
The dining facilities have a centralized kitchen, a separate dining hall for girls, and two modern kitchens for boys. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food are provided, and the mess is managed by the students under the supervision of the Wardens. Water purifiers, steam cooking systems, and other major appliances are provided in each hostel, providing for a comfortable dining experience.
The hostel features a TV hall with LED TV and DTH service, a study room, and a reading room. Guest rooms for visitors and parents are also there, and photocopying, dry cleaning, and a salon are also available for the comfort of the students.The Deputy Wardens, Residential Tutors, Hostel Prefects, and Stewards support the Warden in hostel administration to ensure its smooth operation. The students are expected to maintain the hostels clean and neat and abide by hostel rules and respect discipline, with any deviation being liable to disciplinary action.The Dean of Agriculture oversees the Hostel Management Committee. It deals specifically with administrative and policy decisions regarding the hostels.
