Tata Institute of Social Science offers admissions in various fields such as arts, hotel management, leadership, education, etc. It offers UG, PG, and PhD programs. It accepts CUET UG and PG for admission in most of the courses. It also accepts CAT scores for a few PG program admissions. The institute does not conduct any entrance exam for PhD, rather it accepts UGC NET scores for its admissions. TISS might interview the students during the selection process. TISS Tata Institute of Social Sciences PG Admissions

PhD Admissions at TISS Tata Institute of Social Sciences
The admissions in PhD programs are offered based on UGC NET/JRF scores at Tata Institute of Social Science. The entrance exam for PhD admissions is not conducted by TISS. To be eligible for PhD admissions, one must have achieved a certain set of marks in a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The application process at TISS includes the following steps.
- Visit TISS's online admissions page.
- Enter your email address to register.
- To log in, enter your password and email address.
- Complete the application by entering Personal Information, Academic Information, Professional information, Income per year, Caste, etc.
- Upload scanned copies of the necessary documents such as Scorecards if available, mark sheets, ID cards, etc.
- Make the application fee payment.
- Examine and submit the application.

PhD Admissions
Through UGC-NET scores, candidates are offered PhD admissions in three categories. These are:
- Qualified for both the Assistant Professor position and Ph.D. admission with JRF.
- Qualified for Ph.D. admission without a JRF and Assistant Professor post.
- Only eligible for a Ph.D. program and not eligible for a JRF or an assistant professorship
- For students falling into categories 2 and 3, their performance in the personal interview is given 30% of the weightage, while their NET score accounts for 70%.
- For students who fall in category 2, their selection will be made only on the basis of performance in the interview.
- In case, students with valid UGC NET scores and JRF holders didn’t perform well in the interview, then the personal interview is given 30% of the weightage, while their NET score accounts for 70%.
- The applicants must post a concept note or research proposal with not less than 2000 words on their proposed research. The questions in the interview round will mostly be from the research area.
