The AP ECET 2025 Eligibility rules must be checked by students before applying for the exam. Candidates must secure a minimum of 45% for general category candidates and 40% for reserved candidates while passing the Diploma in Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, B.Sc. Degree.

The AP ECET exam is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Anantapur, on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE).

This is a state-level entrance exam in Andhra Pradesh. It is held for students who have completed a diploma course or a B.Sc degree with Mathematics.

Through this exam, students can get direct admission into the 2nd year (lateral entry) of B.E. / B.Tech courses. It is also for regular admission into B.Pharmacy courses in colleges across Andhra Pradesh.

AP ECET 2025 Eligibility

1. Nationality:

  • The student must be an Indian citizen.

2. Domicile (Home State):

  • The student must belong to Andhra Pradesh.

  • The student must have finished a Diploma in Engineering, Technology, or Pharmacy from the State Board of Technical Education, Andhra Pradesh.
    OR
  • The student must have completed a 3-year B.Sc. degree with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized university.

4. Minimum Marks Required:

  • General Category students need 45% marks in their Diploma or B.Sc.
  • Reserved Category (SC/ ST/ BC) students need 40% marks.

5. Final Year Students:

  • Students in the final year of their Diploma or B.Sc. can also apply, but they must finish their course before getting admission.

Eligibility for Lateral Entry (Direct Entry into 2nd Year) in B.E./ B.Tech/ B.Pharmacy:

  • Students must qualify in the AP ECET 2025 exam.
  • 85% of seats are reserved for local students (students from Andhra Pradesh).
  • 15% of seats are open for all students (unreserved).
  • Private colleges (unaided) keep 10% seats for lateral entry.
  • University colleges also reserve 10% seats for lateral entry.
  • B.Sc. (Mathematics) students will get admission only after diploma holders are given seats.

6. Local and Non-Local Rules:

Local Students:

A student is considered local if:

  • They have studied in Andhra Pradesh for at least 4 continuous years.
  • They lived in Andhra Pradesh for 4 years, even if they didn’t study there.
  • They studied for 7 years in Andhra Pradesh at any time.

Non-Local Students:

Students are non-local if they don’t meet the above conditions, but they can still apply under the 15% unreserved seats if:

  • They lived in Andhra Pradesh for 10 years, even if they studied elsewhere.
  • Their parents lived in Andhra Pradesh for 10 years, except for work outside the state.
  • Their parents work in the State or Central Government, Public Corporations, Universities, or other public institutions in Andhra Pradesh.

AP ECET 2025 Reservation Criteria

Local Candidates 85% of seats in each course are reserved for local candidates.

Lateral Entry Seats 20% seats reserved for lateral entry in Unaided Private Institutions (Minority/Non-Minority).
10% seats reserved for lateral entry in University-affiliated colleges.

AP ECET 2025 Application Limitation

There is no rule on how many times students can apply for AP ECET 2025. But, there is an age limit. Students from the General category should be less than 22 years old. Students from the Reserved categories can be up to 25 years old. This age will be counted as of July 1, 2025. This means that if someone is older than this, they cannot apply for the exam.
