CG PET Eligibility Criteria 2025- Check Age Limit and More

Candidates are advised to check the CG PET 2025 Eligibility before filling out the application. Chhattisgarh Pre Engineering Test (CG PET) is the state level entrance test that is monitored by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board.

CGPEB is also known as CG Vyapam. This exam is conducted for admission to first year undergraduate engineering courses in the government & private engineering colleges of Chhattisgarh. CG PET 2025 will be conducted on 8th May 2025.

CG PET Eligibility 2025

Here we are providing the eligibility criteria for CG PET 2025 examination. Here, we have listed the eligibility domicile, qualification & age-wise:

Domicile Requirements:

  • Candidates who are applying for admission in the government, private, and autonomous engineering institutions/Universities of Chhattisgarh under Chhattisgarh state quota seats are required to produce the domicile certificate of Chhattisgarh state.
  • Candidates should keep their domicile certificate ready as proof of residency.
  • Admission into state quota seats is done through CG PET whereas admission to all India quota seats will be done through JEE Main.

Age Criteria:

  • Students appearing for CG PET 2024 must have an age of minimum 16 years on or before 31 December 2024.
  • The maximum age limit for applying will be 30 years as of or before 1 July 2024.
  • Relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit of female/ SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH category candidates is provided.

Qualification Eligibility:

For B.E./B.Tech:

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from the educational board of Chhattisgarh or equivalent board.
  • Subjects: Qualifying examination (12th) must be passed with Physics, Mathematics (as a compulsory subject) along with any one of the given subjects, i.e. Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ technical vocational subject.
  • Minimum Marks: In 12th examination, candidates are required to obtain at least 45% marks for general category candidates and 40% marks for SC/ST/OBC and physically disabled candidates in three main subjects.
  • It is also necessary to pass all three main subjects individually at qualifying examination.

For B.Tech (Biotechnology):

  • Qualifying Exam: Aspirants who are applying for B.Tech (Biotechnology) are required to pass class 12th examination from the educational board of Chhattisgarh or any other recognized board of India.
  • Subjects: Candidates who have passed 12th with Physics and Biology/Mathematics and any one of the Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Technical Vocational Subjects are eligible to apply for this course.
  • Minimum Marks: Minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) in all three main subjects is required.
  • It is also necessary to pass all three main subjects individually at qualifying examination.

For B.Tech (Dairy Technology):

  • Qualifying Exam: Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from Chhattisgarh board, CBSE & CISCE.
  • Subjects: Passed the above exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: Secure minimum of 50% marks (For GEN) & 40% marks (For SC/ST/OBC) in the qualifying exam.
  • Appearing Candidates can also apply.
  • Age Limit: Candidates age should be 17 years as on 31st December 2024.

For B.Tech (Agriculture Engineering):

  • Qualifying Exam: Candidates should qualify for the 10+2 or its equivalent examination from Chhattisgarh board, CBSE & CISCE.
  • Subjects: Passed the qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: Score at least 50% marks (For GEN) & 40% marks (For SC/ST/OBC) in the qualifying exam.
  • Appearing Candidates will be also eligible to apply.
  • Age Limit: Candidates age should be 16 years as of 31st August 2025.
  • Candidates should be medically fit.

FAQs CG PET Eligibility 2025

Is 45 marks good for a CG PET?

According to the eligibility criteria, candidates from the General category are required to have an aggregate marks of 45% in 12th standard or equivalent qualifying examination to apply for CG PET. On the other hand, Reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Female) candidates will be required to have secured minimum 40% marks.

Who is eligible for CG PET?

Candidates must belong to the State of Chattisgarh. Candidates should have secured a minimum of 45% marks in each of the subjects in their Class 10+2 or equivalent. For BTech Biotechnology, aspirants should have studied Biology instead of Maths in their 10 + 2.

Is CG PET easy?

The difficulty level of CG PET will be similar to that of the 12th standard qualifying examination, as the syllabus will be similar. Candidates will be examined based on their knowledge of topics from the subjects of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

Is there any negative marking in CG PET?

For every correct answer, 1 mark will be allotted. There is no negative marking.

What are the passing marks for the CG PET exam?

Candidates appearing for CG PET should pass in all the three subjects: Physics, Mathematics and one of the subjects from Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject/ Chemistry with at least 45% marks.

What is the marking scheme of CG PET?

From each section of CG PET, 50 questions will be asked. The exam duration of CG PET is 3 hours. There is no negative marking in CGPET exam and 1 mark will be awarded for every correct answer.
