The cutoff marks will be announced after the successful completion of the OUAT 2025 for the academic session 2025-26. Until then, candidates can refer to previous years' cutoffs to assess the exam difficulty and prepare accordingly. The OUAT 2025 result is tentatively scheduled for the third week of July 2025.

To appear for OUAT 2025, candidates must be at least 17 years old and score a minimum of 50% (general category) or 40% (reserved category) to qualify.

Factors Influencing OUAT 2025 Cut-Off Marks

The authorities will consider various factors related to the OUAT 2025 entrance examination while determining its cut-off. Some of the key factors that will influence the OUAT 2025 cutoff are listed below:

Number of Applicants

The total number of candidates appearing for the OUAT 2025 entrance exam significantly impacts the cut-off score.

  • Higher competition: If the number of applicants increases, the cut-off tends to rise as more students compete for limited seats.
  • Lower competition: If fewer students apply, the cut-off may decrease, making it easier to qualify.

For instance, in previous years, when the number of applicants was higher, the cut-off for popular courses such as B.Sc. Agriculture and B.V.Sc. & A.H. increased compared to years with fewer candidates.

Difficulty Level of the Exam

The toughness of the OUAT 2025 entrance examination plays a crucial role in determining the cut-off marks.

  • If the exam is easy, a larger number of students will score high marks, leading to an increase in the cut-off.
  • If the exam is difficult, fewer candidates will achieve high scores, causing the cut-off to drop.

For example, in OUAT 2023, the difficulty level was moderate, leading to a stable cut-off range. However, in OUAT 2021, a tougher exam resulted in a lower cut-off.

Availability of Seats in Various Courses

The number of seats available in different courses directly influences the cut-off marks.

  • More seats available: The cut-off tends to be lower, as there is more room for students to qualify.
  • Fewer seats available: The cut-off becomes higher, as only a limited number of students can be admitted.

For example, highly sought-after courses such as B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Veterinary Science) and B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering usually have a higher cut-off due to limited seat availability.

Reservation Policy & Category-Wise Cut-Off Variation

OUAT follows a reservation policy for various categories, including:

  • Scheduled Castes (SC)
  • Scheduled Tribes (ST)
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC)
  • Physically Disabled (PwD)
  • General/Open category

Since each category has a separate cut-off, the overall cut-off can be affected by the number of reserved seats and the performance of candidates within each category.

  • General category cut-offs are typically higher due to open competition.
  • SC/ST/PwD categories usually have lower cut-offs to provide access to underprivileged students.

For example, in OUAT 2024, the General category cut-off for B.Sc. Agriculture was around 77%, whereas the SC/ST cut-off ranged between 64%-72%.

Performance of Candidates in the Exam

The overall performance of candidates appearing for OUAT 2025 will determine the cut-off.

  • If the majority of students score high marks, the cut-off will increase.
  • If students score lower than expected, the cut-off will drop.

For example, in OUAT 2022, the cut-off was relatively high because many candidates performed well in the entrance exam. Conversely, in OUAT 2020, a tougher exam resulted in lower scores and a lower cut-off.

Previous Years’ Cut-Off Trends

OUAT 2025 cut-off is also influenced by the cut-off trends from previous years. Exam authorities analyze the cut-off history before setting the current year’s cut-off range.

  • If the trend shows a continuous increase, candidates can expect a higher cut-off in 2025.
  • If the trend shows a declining cut-off, the OUAT 2025 cut-off might be lower.

For example, the B.Sc. Agriculture cut-off has shown slight fluctuations over the years:

  • OUAT 2023: 77.167%
  • OUAT 2022: 76.25%
  • OUAT 2021: 74.92%

Weightage System Used for Merit Calculation

OUAT uses a weightage system to calculate the final merit score:

  • Class 10th Marks (HSC or Equivalent) - 25% weightage
  • Class 12th Marks (Science Stream – PCM or PCB) - 25% weightage
  • OUAT Entrance Exam Score - 50% weightage

Since 50% of the total merit score comes from the entrance exam, a higher score in the entrance test increases the chances of qualifying under the cut-off. However, a strong academic record in Class 10th and 12th can also help in securing admission.

Admission Demand for Specific Courses

Certain courses at OUAT are more popular, leading to higher competition and an increase in cut-off marks.

  • Courses such as B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Veterinary Science) and B.Sc. Agriculture usually has higher cut-offs due to high demand.
  • Less competitive courses such as B.Sc. Horticulture or B. Tech Agricultural Engineering may have a comparatively lower cut-off.

For instance, in OUAT 2023, the B.V.Sc. cut-off was around 79.3%, whereas B.Sc. Horticulture had a cut-off of approximately 70%.

State Quota vs. Outside Odisha Candidates

OUAT gives preference to candidates from Odisha, meaning that:

  • Odisha state candidates have a lower cut-off compared to candidates from other states.
  • Non-Odisha candidates may have to score higher marks to secure admission.

This factor significantly impacts the cut-off marks for outside-state students, making the competition tougher for them.

OUAT 2025 Cutoff Weightage

The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) employs a specific weightage system to calculate a candidate's composite score for admission:

  • HSC or Equivalent: 25%
  • 12th Standard or Equivalent (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology): 25%
  • OUAT 2025 Entrance Examination: 50%

For example, if a candidate secures 60% in HSC, 70% in 12th standard, and 120 out of 200 in the entrance exam, the weighted score would be calculated as:

(0.25 * 60) + (0.25 * 70) + (0.50 * (120/2)) = 15 + 17.5 + 30 = 62.5

This composite score is then used to determine the candidate's rank and eligibility for counseling.
