Major Changes in CBSE Curriculum 2025-26
- Two Board Exams for Class 10: Starting from 2025-26, Class 10 students will appear for board exams twice a year, in February and April. This allows them an opportunity to improve their scores.
- Competency-Based Questions: The new curriculum emphasizes conceptual learning instead of rote memorization.
- Revised Revaluation Process: CBSE has made changes to ensure a more transparent and fair evaluation system.
- Subject-Specific Guidelines: The board has outlined clear assessment patterns, focusing on experiential and project-based learning.
CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2025-26
The Class 10 exams will follow a 9-point grading system. Each subject will have a total of 80 marks for the board exam, with an additional 20 marks allocated for internal assessment.
- Students must secure at least 33% marks in total per subject to pass.
- In case a student fails in Science, Mathematics, or Social Science, the result may be computed using a skill or optional subject, if applicable.
- Out of Computer Applications, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence, students can choose only one.
- Students must opt for either English or Hindi as one of their two languages in Class 9 or 10.
CBSE Class 12 Syllabus 2025-26
The Class 12 board exams will continue to be held once a year, starting on February 17, 2026. A 9-point grading system will be used for assessment.
- New skill electives have been introduced, including Land Transportation Associate, Electronics and Hardware, Physical Activity Trainer, and Design Thinking and Innovation.
- Out of Informatics Practices, Computer Science, and Information Technology, students can select only one.
- Students must choose five compulsory subjects, with the option to take an additional elective.
- Internal assessment will include Health and Physical Education, Work Experience, and General Studies.
CBSE Exam Schedule and Student Participation
- Class 10 Board Exams: Conducted twice a year – February and April.
- Class 12 Board Exams: Scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026.
- An estimated 20 lakh students are expected to appear for the Class 12 exams.
