Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916. The university offers various UG and PG programmes for students to choose from. To make it easier for students, BHU provides several scholarships to meritorious and financially needy students. BHU Scholarships generally consist of tuition fee waiver, rewards, free meals, etc, to deserving students. Some of the scholarships are also extended to MBA courses of students with good academic records.
Banaras Hindu University also offers certain scholarships for international students. However, any international student who has claimed any kind of scholarship from another organization isn't eligible for BHU Scholarships.
BHU Scholarships for Eligible Students
Students need to meet the eligibility requirements in order to avail BHU Scholarships. Applicants' family income should be INR 1 LPA or less. They should have good conduct and discipline throughout their academic tenure. Students should possess a compulsory 75% of attendance. Applicants shouldn't have any other scholarships from another organization. Students must verify their identity, admission proof and maintain a good academic record for availing BHU Scholarships.

| 1 | Blind Students BHU Scholarship | Availers of BHU Scholarship receive free meals (lunch & dinner) under the Annadaan Yojana. Moreover, 20 students receive an additional INR 5,000 to cover their study-related fees. |
| 2 | Economically Weak Students | BHU provides free meals (lunch and dinner) to 50 students for at least 7 months of the academic year. This scholarship would provide INR 2,000 annually to 100 disadvantaged students. |
| 3 | Physically challenged students | 25 physically disabled pupils receive a one-time payment of INR 4,000 each. |
| 4 | Merit-based BHU Scholarship | 1st position toppers receive a reward of one time payment of INR 4,000. While 2nd position holders receive a payment of INR 3,000 for once as a reward. |
| 5 | Toppers of MBA Program | Second year MBA students who have topped in their 1st year exams are eligible for the Pyare Lal - Prem Vati Memorial Scholarship of INR 10,000. |
| 6 | Best academics BHU Scholarship | Students that perform academically are awarded the S. N. Ranade Scholarship. The prizes vary according to the performance of the kids. |
| 7 | International Students BHU Scholarship | International students enrolled to BHU after March 21, 2022 will get a one-time payment of INR 6,000 per month. |
| 8 | Participation Rewards | Candidates who attend any of the national meetings, symposiums, or events will be compensated for their sleeper class rail fares (research researchers are not eligible). |
