Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University Hyderabad, Telangana, India, also known as BRAOU, formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Open University, itβs a state-run open institution for higher learning. BRAOU was India's first open university, founded in 1982 in which over 1 lakh students enrolled annually. BRAOU provides more than 50 undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and doctoral programs in the faculties of arts, commerce, education, sciences, and social sciences. The Distance Education Bureau (DEB) and UGC both recognise all of the programs.
BRAOU UG and PG admissions are determined by merit (marks obtained in the qualifying test), with the exception of MBA and B.Ed. programs. The TS/AP ICET or BRAOU MBA Entrance Test (BRAOU MBA) scores are used to determine MBA admittance. For admission to the B.Ed. program, the university also administers an entrance exam. BRAOU provides two-year postgraduate MA, M.Sc., M.Com., and M.Lib.Sc. programs.
