The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) recently issued a notice that contains some information about HPCET Eligibility Criteria on the admission processes for 2025. Thus, interested students must read these criteria carefully before form filling. Loads of criteria require satisfaction by candidates, such as educational qualifications, age limit, and nationality for sitting in this exam. They have to thoroughly scrutinize if they meet all the eligibility criteria in order to ensure that no form of disqualification occurs at the later stage during the selection process. The HPTU has made admissions in its various courses only through a written examination.

  • The Eligibility Criteria of HPCET will include some, such as an age limit, educational qualification, and nationality.
  • The minimum age according to the HPCET eligibility for age limit is 17 years. The detailed course-wise educational qualification is mentioned in the table below.
  • Any candidate, who does not match any of the above criteria, will be disqualified. Only the candidates who qualify all the above eligibility criteria shall be issued with their HPCET Admit Cards.

HPCET 2025 Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for the HPCET (Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test) for the year 2025 includes being of a minimum age of 17 years and a native Indian with no bar on attempts. Education varies depending upon the type of course the applicant has opted for, and the requirement does not mandate experience at any given time for this entrance test.

HPCET 2025 Age limit

Interested applicants to take HPCET 2025 Examination shall have completed 17 years of age as on or before the date 31st December of the year during which the admissions to the respective course is taking place.

HPCET 2025 Qualification

The candidates must hold some educational qualifications to be considered eligible for admission. Educational qualification differs course to course. Eligibility criteria for the same are stated as follows:

Course Name Educational Qualifications
B.Tech (Direct Entry) Candidates must have passed or appeared in the 10+2 examination with the following subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subjects, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship.Candidates must have obtained at least 45% marks in the above subjects taken together.
  • For reserved category candidates, the minimum marks requirement is 40%.
Candidates who have passed a diploma in Engineering and Technology are eligible to apply, provided they have secured at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates).Diploma holders are eligible for admission to the First Year, subject to vacancies, in case lateral entry vacancies are exhausted.
B. Pharmacy (Direct Entry)
  • Candidates must have passed or appeared in the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and either Mathematics or Biology as one of the elective subjects. The candidates must have secured at least 45% marks in the above subjects taken together. For candidates belonging to the reserved category, the minimum required marks are 40%.
MBA/ MBA (T & HM)
  • Candidates must have passed or appeared for a bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a minimum duration of three years, securing at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination. In case of candidates belonging to the reserved category, the minimum marks required are 45%.
MCA
  • Passed/Appeared B.C.A/ B.Sc. (Computer Science)/ B.Sc. (IT) / B.E. (CSE)/ B.Tech. (CSE) / B.E. (IT) / B.Tech. (IT) or equivalent Degree.
OR
  • Graduate / Postgraduate (any discipline viz. B. E. / B. Tech. / B. Sc./ B. Com. / B. A/ B. Voc./ etc) preferably with Maths at 10+2 or graduate level.
  • Has at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to the reserved category) in the qualifying examination.
(Students without a background in Mathematics will be required to complete a compulsory bridge course, which will be designed by the respective University or Institution. Additionally, bridge courses related to computer subjects will be provided according to the norms of the concerned University.)

HPCET 2025 Nationality

Candidates from all over the country are eligible to apply for the admission to HPTU. The candidates must however fulfill other criteria specified by the recruiting body.

HPCET 2025 Number of attempts

There is no limit on the number of attempts. Candidates can take the exam as many times as they wish, as long as they meet the other eligibility criteria.
