The Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test, HPCET 2025, is the entrance exam conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Technical University, HPTU. It is a state-level entrance exam for entry into undergraduate and postgraduate programs in participating institutes throughout Himachal Pradesh. The eligibility for HPCET 2025 is expected to be a minimum age of 17 years, an Indian citizen, and no limitation on attempts. The HPCET 2025 exam pattern will be available on the official Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) website. The exam will be conducted in offline mode (pen-and-paper-based) at various centers, featuring multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The number of questions and total marks will differ based on the program. For B.Tech and B.Pharm, the exam will have 150 questions worth 600 marks, lasting 3 hours 15 minutes. The MCA will have 100 questions carrying a total of 400 marks with a time of 2 hours. MBA contains 75 questions, carrying 300 marks. Duration is for 2 hours. The marks obtained are marked according to +4 for the right answer, and -1 marks for incorrect and 0 for unattempted questions.
There are three papers for the three-month course: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology. For each subject, there will be two sections. For MCA, the exam will consist of four sections of Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, and Computer Awareness. MBA exams for the candidates are Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation, and Quantitative Ability. The admit card for HPCET 2025 is expected to be released in May 2025 (tentative). Candidates who successfully complete the online form will be allowed to download the admit card of the examination after login in at the official website using valid user ID and password. The HPCET 2025 test will be taken at various locations across Himachal Pradesh and other states. The list of the exam center is available at the official website of HPTU or HPCET 2025 Exam Portal. The Cut Off marks of the HPCET may vary every year due to several reasons. Some of the vital factors that might affect the Cut Off are mentioned below:
Counselling dates for HPCET 2025 shall be released through online mode. Every eligible candidate would be required to seek admission in BTech courses conducted by the State's participating institutes through HPCET counselling 2025. While seeking the counselling process under HPCET, the applicant has to make a registration, to fill up an application form along with uploading his documents and fees online through net banking/ credit card/debit card. Next, the chosen colleges and the courses in order of priority have to be selected by each candidate. Allotment shall be done, strictly on ranking basis in counselling venues offline after the candidate submission. Seat availability, category along with preferences the allotment list shall be carried out based upon HPCET 2025 rank. Such allotment being made shall become invalid if within the stipulated date, that particular candidate cannot confirm his admissions.
