IIT Kanpur has recently revised the eligibility criteria for the JEE Advanced exam 2025. To be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2025, students have to pass the JEE Mains exam and secure a valid score. Also, the number of attempts for JEE Advanced 2025 has now been limited to only two in 2 consecutive years.  Hence, before filling out the JEE Advanced 2025 Application Form, students should check the eligibility criteria and other requirements, such as age, cutoff marks, and the number of attempts. Here’s an overview of the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria:

Number of Attempts

According to the new update, applicants are allowed to appear for JEE Advanced only two times in two consecutive years. The exception to this rule applies only to those candidates who have withdrawn from their course or dropped out between November 5 to November 14, 2024. Such candidates can register and reappear for JEE Advanced 2025.

Educational Qualifications

  • Students who have passed their 12th examination in 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects are eligible to sit for JEE Advanced 2025.
  • If a student has just appeared for the board examination and the result has not been declared yet, or if the authorities have withheld it, it will be considered as an appearance. Students can still appear for the JEE Advanced exam.
  • Students whose board examination results were declared on or after June 28, 2023, can apply for the JEE Advanced 2025 examination. This will be based on the condition that the student meets all the other eligibility requirements.

*Candidates who had appeared for the Class 12th board examination in 2023, for the first time, are not eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
