The LSAT India 2025 exam pattern is prescribed by the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). The examination pattern includes the sections, duration of the exam, type of questions, marking scheme, and total number of questions.

The examination is conducted online twice yearly, usually in January and May sessions. Candidates can review the syllabus and examination pattern to prepare for the exam.

In the examination, there are 92 questions divided into four sections: logical reasoning-1, logical reasoning-2, analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension, and the type of questions asked in the exam paper are multiple choice questions.

Marking scheme

  1. The exam conducting authority has not officially released the total number of marks or marks per question.
  2. The total number of marks counts for each correct answer on a scale of 420-480.
  3. No negative marking for incorrect answers; if the candidates do not attempt the questions, the negative marks will not be deducted.

Sections wise- questions type

The LSAT exam contains three subjects: logical reasoning, analytical reasoning, and reading comprehension. The detailed information on the question type from each section is listed below.

Logical reasoning

Total Questions and Duration: There are two sections in the logical reasoning, totaling 45 questions, and candidates get 35 minutes to complete the questions.

Question type: The logical reasoning questions will have passages drawn from journalistic sources such as newspapers and magazines, requiring the candidates to think critically and understand the logic in the questions. Candidates will be allotted 35 minutes each for the two sections.

Analytical reasoning:

Total question and duration: There are 23 questions, and candidates will have 35 minutes to complete them.

Question type: the analytical reasoning section consists of certain situations and scenarios or situations presented as passages. Candidates must analyze and identify ordering and grouping relationships and draw inferences from given statements.

Reading comprehension

Total questions and duration: There are a total of 24 questions, and candidates will get 35 minutes to complete them.

Question type: there are three single passages and one seat of passage that includes two short passages for comparative reading.
