- The candidate who has secured the highest marks in Part C i.e. Aptitude for the Study of Law will be given preference.
- If the tie persists, candidates with the highest scores in Part B i.e. Current Affairs will be given preference.
- If the tie persists then, a candidate older in age will be given preference.
TS LAWCET 2025 Normalisation Process
The TS LAWCET exam for the 3-year law course is held in two separate sessions, each with different question papers but the same syllabus and pattern. Candidates are allowed to attend only one of these sessions. Even though efforts are made to ensure both sessions have the same level of difficulty, slight differences might still exist.
To address any potential variations in difficulty between the sessions, a normalization process is used. This process adjusts scores so that no candidate is unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged due to the specific session they attended. Essentially, if one session is slightly easier, the scores from that session may be adjusted downward a bit, while scores from a slightly harder session may be adjusted upward. These adjustments are typically minimal, as the question papers are designed to be of equal difficulty.
The goal of normalization is to ensure fairness, making sure all candidates are evaluated on an equal basis, regardless of the session they participated in.
TS LAWCET 2025 Normalisation Formula
The normalization process for TS LAWCET is based on a specific formula designed to equate scores across various sessions. The formula used is:
=GASD + GTA-GASD/STA-SASD x (Mark obtained by the candidate in the subject in a session – SASD)
The definitions for these terms are as follows.
- SASD: Sum of Average (A) and Standard Deviation (SD) of the subject of a session in which the candidate appeared.
- GASD: Sum of Average (A) and Standard Deviation (SD) of all the candidates across all sessions of the subject put together.
- STA: Average mark of the top 0.1% of the candidates in the subject of a session in which the candidate appeared.
- GTA: Average mark of the top 0.1% of all the candidates across all the sessions of the subject put together.
Note: In the TS LAWCET 3-year course, candidates from the SC/ST categories do not have a minimum qualifying mark requirement. If, after the normalization process, a candidate's score is negative, it will be adjusted to zero. In cases where two candidates have the same score (a tie), the actual normalized marks, even if negative, will be used to break the tie.
