Common University Entrance Test Pattern

The CUET UG 2025 exam pattern has been updated by NTA. According to UGC Chairperson Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, the exam will now have changes in its duration, mode of examination, and the number of subjects. It will return to the computer-based test (CBT) format. CUET UG 2025 will be divided into three sections: Section 1 will cover 13 languages, Section 2 will include 23 subject options, and Section 3 will be a General Test. Students can select up to five subjects, reduced from the earlier limit of six, and they can choose any subject even if they didn’t study it in class 12. The exam dates are expected to be announced soon and are likely to be scheduled in May or June 2025. The question paper will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with each correct answer awarding 5 marks and each wrong answer deducting 1 mark. The exam will be available in English and 12 regional languages. Students can begin their CUET UG preparation alongside their board exams.

What’s New in the CUET 2025 Exam Pattern?

The UGC Chairman has introduced the following changes to the CUET UG exam pattern starting from 2025:

• Students can now choose CUET UG subjects regardless of what they studied in class 12.
• The exam will only be conducted in CBT (computer-based test) mode.
• CUET UG will now cover 37 subjects, including 23 domain subjects, 13 languages, and a General Test, instead of the previous 63 subjects.
• The duration for all CUET subjects will be 60 minutes uniformly.
• Admissions for subjects that are no longer offered will rely on General Aptitude Test scores.
