NBU is accepting applications from interested applicants who have been accepted into the Ph.D. program or who have earned an M.Phil. for the SVMCM NON-NET Fellowship, which was started by the West Bengal government. Situated in Darjeeling, West Bengal, North Bengal University (NBU) is a state university.It offers various UG, PG, M.Phil & Ph.D, PG Diploma and Distance education courses in different specializations. Admission to BA, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Li.Sc, B.Ed and LL.B courses is granted on the basis of merit-list published by the university with respect to candidates’ marks in their last qualifying examination. MA. M.Sc, MCA, M.Li.Sc and LL.M admissions are offered on the basis of a written test followed by a viva-voce conducted by the university. For PG courses, 60% seats of the total are reserved for the candidates who have completed their UG degree from NBU while 40% are for the candidates belonging to the other universities. A valid score in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ WBJEMAT/ NBU-MAT followed by GD and PI is required for the MBA program. For M.Phil and Ph.D. courses, the candidates have to qualify in an entrance test and interview conducted by NBU.
Significant notifications regarding admissions for 2025 have been made by North Bengal University. Candidates can now check their scores online as the CMAT 2025 result is now available. Registration for the May session of MAT 2025 will shortly begin. The exam for ATMA 2025 is set on June 1, 2025, and registration for the June session is open until May 20, 2025.

At UG level, NBU offers BA, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Ed, LL.B, B.Li.Sc and Diploma courses in various specializations. At postgraduate level, NBU offers full-time MA, M.Sc, LL.M and M.LI.Sc courses along with PG Diploma courses in various specializations. Some specializations in M.Sc and PG Diploma programs are offered in Self-Financed mode. Graduation in the relevant discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Admission to all the PG courses is offered on the basis of a course-based written test conducted by the university followed by Viva-Voce/ interview.
Application form can be filled online on payment of INR 150 (INR 60 for SC/ST/PH) as application fee through Challan or by Credit/ Debit Card or through Net-Banking.

The entire admissions process at NBU takes place online. Candidates must fulfill the university's eligibility requirements prior to applying. The selection process varies course to course. For PG courses, candidates must appear for entrance examinations, such as CAT, MAT etc. Below are the step by step process for NBU admission:

Step 2: Selection: Selection is done on the basis of merit list/ written test/ entrance exam. Admission to MBA requires a valid score in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ NBU-MAT followed by GD and PI. MA, MSc, MCA and LLM admissions are offered on the basis of a written test followed by viva-voce conducted by the university
Step 3: Payment of Fee: Candidates are required to pay admission fee for their desired course to secure the seat at NBU.
There are two campuses at North Bengal University- Raja Rammohunpur & Jalpaiguri, admissions are held separately for both the campuses. The lists of admissions are made on merit basis.
Candidates can apply for admission against the first choice of preference. In case, the choice is not available in the initial instance, the candidate would have to wait for the merit lists according to the second preference. Depends only on the depletion of options.
