NBU is accepting applications from interested applicants who have been accepted into the Ph.D. program or who have earned an M.Phil. for the SVMCM NON-NET Fellowship, which was started by the West Bengal government. Situated in Darjeeling, West Bengal, North Bengal University (NBU) is a state university.It offers various UG, PG, M.Phil & Ph.D, PG Diploma and Distance education courses in different specializations. Admission to BA, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Li.Sc, B.Ed and LL.B courses is granted on the basis of merit-list published by the university with respect to candidates’ marks in their last qualifying examination. MA. M.Sc, MCA, M.Li.Sc and LL.M admissions are offered on the basis of a written test followed by a viva-voce conducted by the university. For PG courses, 60% seats of the total are reserved for the candidates who have completed their UG degree from NBU while 40% are for the candidates belonging to the other universities. A valid score in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ WBJEMAT/ NBU-MAT followed by GD and PI is required for the MBA program. For M.Phil and Ph.D. courses, the candidates have to qualify in an entrance test and interview conducted by NBU.

Significant notifications regarding admissions for 2025 have been made by North Bengal University. Candidates can now check their scores online as the CMAT 2025 result is now available. Registration for the May session of MAT 2025 will shortly begin. The exam for ATMA 2025 is set on June 1, 2025, and registration for the June session is open until May 20, 2025.

North Bengal University (NBU) UG Admission 2025

At UG level, NBU offers BA, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Ed, LL.B, B.Li.Sc and Diploma courses in various specializations. Some courses are also offered in integrated and self-financed modes. 10+2 with PCM/B is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. North Bengal University (NBU) PG Admission 2025

At postgraduate level, NBU offers full-time MA, M.Sc, LL.M and M.LI.Sc courses along with PG Diploma courses in various specializations. Some specializations in M.Sc and PG Diploma programs are offered in Self-Financed mode. Graduation in the relevant discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Admission to all the PG courses is offered on the basis of a course-based written test conducted by the university followed by Viva-Voce/ interview.

Application form can be filled online on payment of INR 150 (INR 60 for SC/ST/PH) as application fee through Challan or by Credit/ Debit Card or through Net-Banking.

NBU Admission Process 2025

The entire admissions process at NBU takes place online. Candidates must fulfill the university's eligibility requirements prior to applying. The selection process varies course to course. For PG courses, candidates must appear for entrance examinations, such as CAT, MAT etc. Below are the step by step process for NBU admission:

Step 2: Selection: Selection is done on the basis of merit list/ written test/ entrance exam. Admission to MBA requires a valid score in CMAT/ MAT/ CAT/ ATMA/ JMET/ XAT/ NBU-MAT followed by GD and PI. MA, MSc, MCA and LLM admissions are offered on the basis of a written test followed by viva-voce conducted by the university

Step 3: Payment of Fee: Candidates are required to pay admission fee for their desired course to secure the seat at NBU.

What are the admissions procedures at various campuses of North Bengal University?

There are two campuses at North Bengal University- Raja Rammohunpur & Jalpaiguri, admissions are held separately for both the campuses. The lists of admissions are made on merit basis.

Can I apply for admission to both the Preferred options at North Bengal University?

Candidates can apply for admission against the first choice of preference. In case, the choice is not available in the initial instance, the candidate would have to wait for the merit lists according to the second preference. Depends only on the depletion of options.

How can I apply for admission to the desired course at NBU?

Are WBJEMAT results accepted by North Bengal University for MBA admissions?

Is a student eligible for B.Lib.i.Sc or M.Lib.I.Sc. admissions at North Bengal University if he/she completed UG degree in 2017?

No, those applicants who completed their UG degree 03 years before (2020) are not eligible for admission to B.Lib.i.Sc at University of North Bengal. This option is valid for those candidates who fall under the 60% quota of NBU.

Am I eligible for LLM admissions at North Bengal University if I have an integrated BA.LLB degree?

Yes, an applicant who holds either LLB, BA.LLB or any other equivalent degree in Law as recognised by the state or university are eligible for admissions at North Bengal University in LLM programme.

What if I scored 55% in BCA, can I still apply for MCA admissions at North Bengal University?

No, applicants must have at least 60% in BCA or equivalent degree to be eligible to apply for the university entrance for MCA. Those applicants not fulfilling basic criteria would not be entertained for screening at other levels.

What is the online processing fee for admission at North Bengal University?

A processing fee of INR 100 for general candidates and INR 50 for SC/ST/OBC students of West Bengal state only and BPL/PwD candidates only on production of relevant certificates is charged for admission applications.

What is the duration of the BSc course at NBU?

The BSc programme is a three-year full-time course, which is divided into six semesters. The university provides a BSc programme in various specialisations, following a semester pattern.
