The University of North Bengal is a government-funded major research university located in Siliguri. Otherwise known as North Bengal University (NBU), it was founded in 1962 under an Act of the Legislature of West Bengal. NBU has recognition from the University Grants Commission (UGC) and a 'Grade A' accreditation by NAAC. It is also an AIU member of the Association of Indian Universities.
