B.Ed is a two-year professional undergraduate course in the field of education. It aims at preparing the graduate to opt for the roles as a teacher at the primary, secondary and senior secondary school. The BEd syllabus is a blend of theory and practice and provides the pupil with educational psychology, pedagogy, classroom management, subject-specific pedagogical strategies and current education issues. The course devotes a significant amount of time on internship and teaching experience in front of the classroom, so graduates can be prepared to face the real world.

 

For BEd admission the candidates need to have a bachelor degree from a recognized university. B.Ed Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply for the top BEd colleges, the candidates need to fulfill the BEd eligibility criteria, which are somewhat similar for many colleges, The detailed eligibility criteria is given below:

  • The candidates need to complete their bachelor’s degree from any discipline such as Arts, Science, or Commerce from a recognized university.
  • The candidates need to score at least 50 to 55 percent in their graduation.
  • Relaxation can be given to the candidates, who belong to the reserved categories.
  • There is not any mandatory upper age limit to be eligible for the BEd course.
  • In addition to this, to get admission in the top BEd colleges, the candidates need to qualify for the entrance exam.

BEd Admission Process

The candidates need to follow a simple BEd admission process to enroll in the top BEd colleges in India. The BEd admission process at BHU is provided below.

 

Step 1: Check the official eligibility criteria of the BHU B.Ed course

 

Step 2: Visit the National Testing Agency (NTA) CUET PG portal and complete the registration process, selecting the relevant subject group for B.Ed. at BHU.

 

Step 3: Appear for the CUET PG exam in the discipline relevant for the B.Ed. program at BHU.

 

Step 4: After the results are declared, download and securely save your CUET PG scorecard.

 

Step 5: Visit the BHU Combined Allotment Program (CAP PG) portal and register using your CUET PG application and result details.

 

Step 6: Complete the BHU application form, provide your personal and academic details, and note your intended B.Ed. specialization and college preference as applicable.

 

Step 7: Upload all required documents such as marksheets, identity proof, photographs, and CUET PG scorecard as specified in the BHU guidelines.

 

Step 8: If shortlisted based on the merit list, participate in the counseling process as per the schedule announced by BHU.

 

Step 9: Attend counseling (either online or in-person), upload or physically bring original documents, and complete the required document verification at this stage.

 

Step 10: Submit or verify all remaining original documents, complete any administrative and medical formalities if required.

 

Step 11: Report to the allotted department or college at BHU on the date specified to begin your B.Ed. program.

Is it possible to pursue B.Ed. after 12th?

You can not join a normal B.Ed program immediately after class 12 as you have to be graduated first. But those students who want to pursue the teaching profession, they have the option to go to integrated programs like BA-B.Ed. / B.Sc.-B.Ed. It is a four year course and providing professional education in the fields along with a degree course. It can be pursued after 10+2.

What is the average BEd course fees?

The fee charged on different B.Ed. courses is also different across universities and modes of study. Government colleges have an annual fee of INR 15, 000 to 60 000, whereas, in private universities, fee might be more but it can go up to INR 2 to 3 lakh in two years. The distance learning program, like, in the case of IGNOU, is usually cheaper.

Can I pursue BEd from open university or distance mode?

Yes, B.Ed. can be done by distance mode through such institutions as IGNOU, and others, with the state open universities. These courses are meant to target the working people in society and they comprise a combination of distance education and mandatory time in the school to guarantee exposure to teaching.

What are the major subjects included in the B.Ed syllabus?
