GAT B 2025 Preparation Tips

  • Consistency is the key: GAT-B preparation requires maintaining regular and uninterrupted study sessions. Candidates must be dedicated and focused, keeping distractions at bay and not allowing them to deviate from their study schedules. Consistency in efforts is bound to show improvement over time, which is very important for success in both exams and life.
  • Set High Goals: Candidates should cover the syllabus a month in advance of the date of the examination and then start revising all the material covered. Ambitious targets such as solving previous years' question papers and practicing mock tests will prove to be a boon. Keeping undivided attention on the goals and commitment will maximize the preparation and provide the best possible results.
  • Time Management: Preparing a feasible and productive timetable is crucial for covering all topics effectively. A particular time slot must be assigned to each subject and the schedule must be followed strictly. Proper study planning will ensure that all topics are covered in time and adequate opportunity will be left for revision and practice before the exam.
  • Stay Focused: Concentration on studies is the most important thing. Even when motivation levels are low, keeping eyes on the set goals and giving time to preparation will help candidates keep on track. Keeping key topics and skills relevant to the exam on the priority list for learning and practice will facilitate sustained progress.
  • Regular practice through mock tests and previous years' question papers will familiarize candidates with the exam pattern and key topics. This practice helps identify weak areas, allowing for targeted improvement. Consistent practice will also aid in managing time during the exam and boost overall confidence.
  • Learn from Mistakes: Reviewing mistakes made during practice sessions is the key to growth. Identification of errors, correction, and learning from them will strengthen concepts. Continuous improvement and addressing mistakes will lead to a more refined and effective preparation strategy.

GAT B 2025 Cutoff

The cut-off marks for GAT-B 2024 are released category-wise on the official website. The cut-off marks of GAT-B are the minimum qualifying marks out of 240 to get admitted. Applicants must obtain marks equivalent or more than the cut-off marks to get a seat in a desired university through GAT-B 2024. The cut-off marks of the GAT-B exam 2024 vary with several parameters such as total applicants, difficulty level of GAT-B entrance exam, available seats, category, etc.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Biotechnology (GAT-B 2024), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Ministry of Education, is a crucial examination for admission to DBT-supported Postgraduate (PG) Programs in Biotechnology for the academic session 2024-26.

The Result Finalization Committee has determined the following category-wise cut-off scores for the GAT-B 2024:

Category Cut-off % Cut-off Marks
UR (General) 50.5% 127
OBC-NCL 27% 89.5
SC 15% 65
ST 7.5% 60
Gen-EWS (Supernumerary) 10% 91
Differently-abled (DA) 26.67% 64

GAT B 2025 Factor Affecting Cutoff

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) cut-off marks are finalized by the conducting authority of the exam after considering various critical factors. These factors help in ascertaining that the cut-off is reflective of the competition level and seat availability. The following are the key elements that are considered for the GATE cut-off marks:

  • Total Number of Students Appeared for the Exam: The total number of candidates appearing for the GATE exam every year goes a long way in setting the cut-off. The more the candidates appearing, the higher the cut-off has to be to ensure only the crème de la crème are selected.
  • Number of Vacant Seats: The number of available seats in the various programs or institutions is what really determines the cut-off. More seats leading to fewer candidates may even result in lower cut-off marks. Moreover, the number of students with lesser seats could also lead to a higher cut-off.
  • Difficulty Level of the Exam: The most crucial factor is that the difficulty level of the GATE exam changes every year. If the GATE exam proves to be tougher than its usual standard, the cut-off might be on the lower side as fewer people would be scoring well. The cut-off, in this case, might tend to be more because the test has been pretty easy.

GAT B 2025 Counselling Process

The counselling process of GAT-B 2025 will be carried out online by the National Testing Agency. Candidates whose names appear in the merit list are eligible to participate in counselling. At the time of counselling, applicants have to indicate their preferred options of universities and courses. Those candidates who do not mention their preferences will not be considered by the respective university. Admission will be subject to the availability of seats, rank, and course selection. Each participating institute will conduct counselling individually.

Candidates can refer to the GAT-B counselling process from below.

  • After the GAT-B merit list is drawn, more than double the number of candidates than the total intake only will be informed of their merit rank in the entrance examination. In addition to this, information regarding the total number of seats in each participating University will also be provided. The candidates will be approached to exercise their options through online mode for joining the Universities.
  • Before the candidate selects the GAT-B 2024 counseling option, the aspirant should always refer to the eligibility criteria set by the university.
  • In case a candidate fails to exercise options for admission into any of the participating universities, he/she shall not be considered for admission through GAT-B.
  • After the GAT-B counselling seat allotment, participating institutes will issue intimation to the candidates regarding their allotment of the university and also to the concerned participating university to which the candidate has been selected.
  • Candidates can check the allotment of the university on the website of the institutes.
  • The participating university will then inform the candidate about the complete admission procedure and schedule of their MTech. Biotechnology prospectus.
