GAT B 2025 Syllabus

Section A: 10+2 Level (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology)This section consists of 60 compulsory multiple-choice questions designed at the 10+2 level. Candidates will be tested on the following subjects:

• Physics: Fundamental concepts of mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, optics, and modern physics.
• Chemistry: Organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry basics such as chemical reactions, bonding, and stoichiometry.
• Mathematics: Topics from algebra, calculus, statistics, and probability.
• Biology: Cell biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, and evolution.

Each correct answer in this section awards 1 mark, with a penalty of 0.5 marks for wrong answers. All questions are mandatory.

Section B: Graduate Level (Biotechnology and Allied Subjects)This section covers topics from Basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, and related fields at the Bachelor's (graduate) level. It is designed to assess candidates’ depth of understanding and analytical ability. Topics include:

• Genetics and Molecular Biology: Gene structure, mutations, chromosomal variations, and genetic diseases; Mechanisms of DNA replication, transcription, translation, and regulation.
