Does Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies accept any refunds on remitted fees?
Yes, one has to inform the authorities before the start of the session. 100% refunds are possible if the student has informed the concerned authorities before the last date of admission. However, registration and admission fees are non-refundable. If a student discontinues in the middle of the program, then the remaining fee has to be paid by the student.
Is the entrance exam at VISTAS compulsory for admissions?
VISTAS has not mandated entrance exams for all its courses. Though, it conducts its entrance for courses such as B.Tech and B.Pharm.Admission is provided after a merit list for the courses has been generated. In the case of B.Tech and B.Pharm curses, merit is generated based on 12th and entrance marks. In case a student has failed in any subject in their 12th or UG and secured good marks in entrance even then it is advised to clear the backlogs first as the institute does not offer admissions without merit.
What are the reservation criteria for SC/ST/OBC and physically disabled candidates at IGNOU?
22% of total seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates. For OBC candidates, need-based reservations are offered. Physically disabled candidates are given the facilities such as wheelchairs and ramps. Economically Weaker Sections are not offered any reservations at vistas. However in extreme cases, if a student needs some financial help from the institute, then they are fully supported in this regard
What is V-SAT at VISTAS?
V-SAT is the Vels Scholarship Admission Test conducted online for students who have completed their 12th and want to enroll in different programs at VISTAS. The test comprises objective questions and lasts for 45 minutes. The test has quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal ability. The medium of the test is only in English. One mark is deducted for every wrong answer and 4 marks are offered for every correct answer. 100% tuition fee is waived if the student has scored top ranks in V-SAT. Scholarship up to 75% is offered to the students if they have also appeared in V-SAT and have scored good marks.
Is there any upper age limit for UG courses at VISTAS?
Yes, for UG courses one should not be above 21 years of age. If we talk about the minimum age limit, one should have completed 18 years or equal to 18 years.
What is the eligibility for Diploma courses at VISTAS?
For diploma courses, one should have completed their 10th standard. There are many PG Diploma courses also offered at VISTAS. For that, completing UG is necessary.
In how many streams PhD is offered at VISTAS and what is the admission procedure for a Ph.D.?
At VISTAS, PhD is offered in a total of 30 streams. For a PhD at VISTAS, one should have completed 10th, 12th, UG, and PG. To grant admission, the institute conducts an entrance exam. The eligible candidates have to appear for that entrance which is of 100 marks. The syllabus of the entrance exam includes 50% Research Methodology and 50% questions from subjects chosen by the candidate. Post the entrance exam, an interview of the candidates who have appeared for the test and cleared it is conducted to check the interest of the candidate in research. 70% weightage is given to entrance test performance and 30% to the performance in the interview. In case a student has appeared in any research exam that is conducted on the national or state level then he/she is exempted from appearing in the entrance test. They will be given admission based on marks of entrance in which they have appeared.
How can I pay the fee online at VISTAS?
You need to visit the VISTAS website. At the Admissions tab, you will find “Online Fee Payment” options. You will be directed to a new page when you click on that. To make any payment you must have the Admission Number and date of birth. After you enter the Admission number, DOB, Name, and Captcha, you will be directed to a page where your all dues will be shown. You can make all the pending payments now. To make payment, use Net Banking/Visa/Mastercard/Debit Card. An extra Rs. 15 + Taxes will be added to your fee amount if you decide to pay using any Internet banking method, such as NEFT/RTGS, etc. There will be a fee of 2% plus applicable taxes if you decide to pay with a credit or debit card. The above-mentioned amount will be added automatically to your pending fees. If you have decided to pay the fee offline, then you need to visit the admission cell at VISTAS. You can pay your fees via Cheque, DD, or Cash.
