GATE GATE 2025

The announcement for the GATE 2025 exam is expected to take place in the month of August (tentative). Candidates can visit the official website https://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/ for official 2025 notice. To be eligible to sit the exam, candidates must submit their completed GATE 2025 application form before the deadline. Only those who fulfill the standards stated by GATE are eligible to complete the application. If they pass their undergraduate degree exam, prospective candidates are eligible to take the GATE exam. To prepare for the exam, they must study according to the GATE syllabus. Applicants who meet the requirements can review the information below regarding the GATE 2025 exam, including the dates, times, and eligibility requirements.

In February 2025, the authority will hold an online GATE 2025 exam. Candidates for admission to the various MTech courses offered at engineering institutes and recruitment by some public sector companies. The candidates will shortly be notified of the final deadline by which they must complete and submit the GATE 2025 application form in order to be considered for the examination and admission process. The candidates will not be permitted to take the entrance exam if they do not finish registering for GATE 2025. Once they have finished scheduling a slot, registered candidates will be able to access and obtain the GATE 2025 hall pass. The GATE 2025 result/scorecard will contain the moderated test results from the admission exam. Candidates who meet the requirements must take part in the GATE 2025 counseling process. The order in which seats are assigned will depend on the candidate's preferences, rank, and availability.

What is GATE ?

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that majorly tests the understanding level of engineering and science students for admission into the Masters programme in engineering institutes like IITs, NITs, IISERs and recruitment by some Public Sector companies.

The GATE exam is conducted jointly by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology at Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai, Roorkee & Indian Institute of Science at Bengaluru on the account of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

  • 1 mark MCQs – 1/3 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

GATE Registration

The GATE 2025 registration process is expected to begin in the second week of February 2025 and will be conducted online. Here are the steps to register GATE 2025:

  1. Visit the official website of GATE at https://gate.iitkgp.ac.in/
  2. Click on the “New Registration” button and create an account using a valid email ID and password.
  3. Fill out the application form with your personal and educational details.
  4. Upload scanned copies of your passportsized photograph and signature.
  5. Pay the GATE 2025 registration fee using a credit or debit card.
  6. Submit the application form and take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

Important Documents Required

The following documents are required to complete the GATE 2025 registration process:

  1. A good quality image of candidate’s photograph ensuring the specified requirements ( Size must be between 2 KB and 200 KB)

  3. Details of Valid identity document (The same ID to be carried at the exam hall). Valid ID could be Passport/ PAN card/ Voter ID/ AadhaarUID/ College ID/ Employee ID/ Driving License
  4. A scanned copy of degree certificate or provisional certificate from Head of Department /Institute (format specified in Appendix A of the information brochure ) The size of the scanned document must be between 10 KB and 300KB.
  5. A scanned copy of the category certificate (SC/ST) if applicable* in pdf format . The size of the scanned document must be between 10 KB and 300KB.
  6. A scanned copy of PwD Certificate if applicable* in pdf format . The file size should be between 10KB and 300KB)
  7. A scanned copy of Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format (File size should be between 10KB and 300KB)

Academic Qualifications

Any student who has successfully completed a three or year engineering/science undergraduate degree or is currently studying in the third or fourth year of that engineering degree OR has already graduated in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is definitely eligible for sitting in GATE 2025. Marking Scheme Questions carry 1 mark or 2 marks
Negative Marking
  • Negative marking will be applied to MCQ answers that are selected incorrectly.
  • If an MCQ is worth one point, a bad response will cost you 1/3 of the mark.
  • A wrong answer on a twomark multiplechoice question will result in the deduction of two thirds of a mark.
  • When answering an MSQ or NAT question incorrectly, there is no deduction for that response.
  • In MSQ, partial marking does not exist.
