Under the Central Universities Act 2009 (Parliament Act No. 25 of 2009), the Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod, was established in 2009. The university operated out of a rented building in Kasaragod town's Nayanmarmoola (Vidyanagar) when it opened its academic doors in October 2009 with 17 students enrolled in two postgraduate programs. With a total enrollment of about 2500 students, the university has expanded from its modest beginnings to become an establishment offering 27 postgraduate and 22 research programs. Thejaswini Hills University's campus is situated in Periye, Kasaragod, on 310 acres of land that the Keralan government granted in 2012. The total built-up area of the permanent campus is 6,58,400 square feet.

Central University of Kerala Scholarship 2025:
Scholarships will be given to students who received at least 50% of the possible points in their previous final exam or an equal grade, and whose parents' or guardians' combined annual income does not exceed Rs. 2 lakh. For both Hosteller and Day Scholar, the annual admission and tuition price for Classes XI and XII is Rs. 7,000, subject to actuals.
For technical and vocational courses at the XI and XII levels (courses lasting one year or longer), the annual admission and course/tuition fee is Rs. 10,000, subject to actuals (both Hosteller & Day Scholar). Admission and tuition costs for both Hosteller and Day Scholar programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels are Rs. 3,000/-per year, subject to actuals. Class XI and XII, including Tech and Vocational Courses*: Rs. 230/-per month for Day Scholars and Rs. 380/-per month for Hostellers.
For UG and PG studies other than technical and professorial courses, the monthly cost is Rs. 570 for a hosteller and Rs. 300 for a day scholar.
