With dreams in his eyes and fire in his gut, a young Scottish missionary answered the call of the Master, Jesus Christ, and more than a century and fifty years ago, the tale of Hislop College was born. With just 30 students, Rev. Stephen Hislop opened a boys' school in ancient Nagpur in 1846. Currently, the College enjoys a prime location and is recognized as one of Central India's best universities. It serves the needs of more than 4,000 students annually and provides a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programs in the fields of arts, science, and commerce.
Under the Church direction of North India Synod, the College is administered by the Hislop College Education Society. It existed even before RTM Nagpur University was founded, making it the first higher education establishment in the Vidarbha region.
The college is famous for its strong educational courses, active campus community, and significant contributions to the improvement of social and civic life of students. Its alumni include a group of famous people, including renowned scientists, astute leaders, prolific writers, and talented athletes.
One of the most well-known resources for students looking to work for reputable corporate firms is the Hislop College, Training & Placement. The placement team works very hard to prepare students for the work environment. Experts provide number of training workshops each year with the goal of talented students' placement in multinational corporations. A lot of students attend the annual WOW (Workshop on Work Skills), which is helpful.
A specialized placement and training cell at the college runs a variety of programs, including technical seminars, TCS-certified courses, skill development classes, and placement drives, among many other events.
