The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, is one of the premier engineering institutions in India, with a history dating back to 1856. It was founded as Calcutta Civil Engineering College and later renamed Bengal Engineering College in 1920, before it became a Deemed University in 1993. In 2014, it was declared an Institute of National Importance (INI) under the NITSER Act and was rechristened IIEST, Shibpur. IIEST Shibpur provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs with different admission procedures. For B.Tech, the admission process is through JEE Mains, then through JoSAA or CSAB counselling, and the course is offered in nine specializations. The DASA UG scheme is available for NRIs and Persons of Indian Origin. For M.Tech and M.Plan, the admission procedure is based on a valid GATE score, followed by CCMT Counselling. Qualify in JEE Mains. Students have to take up counselling in either JoSAA or CSAB. Admissions into the MBA course are taken from students with MAT, CMAT, CAT, XAT, and GMAT scores and shortlisted through online interviews; academic and interview results hold equal importance. M.Sc Admission will be through IIT JAM and will also go for CCMN counselling. All admissions are conducted through online mediums, and all applications have to be made only through the official website of IIEST Shibpur. The application fee for UR/OBC-NCL/EWS is INR 1,500 and INR 1,000 for SC/ST/ PWD.
