Lady Brabourne College Admission process

Candidates willing to take admission need to visit the official website . The admission kit includes a datasheet, admission form, and college brochure.

  1. Online admission to U.G. Courses are conducted as per the directives of the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal and the University of Calcutta.
  2. All admission-related information will be available at the designated website.
  3. Students are admitted strictly on the basis of merit. Students from ISC, CBSE, WBCHSE and different Boards of other states are eligible for admission to this College.
  4. Overseas students may also apply.
  5. The lists of selected candidates are posted on the designated website.
  6. There is no provision for admission to pure General Courses.
  7. The College follows government statutes regarding admission of candidates belonging to reserved categories. Vide Govt. Order No. DRSCT / 165 / 2000 / 6(A), 22% and 6% (=28%) of total seats are reserved for S.C. and S.T. candidates respectively in each subject (Honors) Streams / Courses. It may be noted that the same rule follows for P.G. Courses.
  8. The candidates included in the general merit list should not be counted towards reserved seats.
  9. Every S.C. / S.T. a candidate should get an application form for admission if they obtained minimum qualifying marks for admission i.e. having 40% marks in aggregate or 40% marks in a concerned subject in H.S. or equivalent examination for Honors Courses.
  10. An S.C. or S.T. a candidate getting admission should have in the previous examination qualifying marks which are not lower by more than 25% from the marks obtained by the last candidate of the General Category.
  11. S.C. / S.T. candidates from outside West Bengal will not be entitled to the benefits stated above.

Required documents-

  1. Original transcript of the most recent university or board exam passed, together with an official photo
  2. Character certificate that has been properly endorsed by the institution's head at the last visit.
  3. Detailed grades, certificates of discharge and migration in the event that a student is transferring from another Indian board or university.
  4. Registration at the university (for former students only)
  5. Certificates of recognition from the head of the institution last attended for outstanding achievement in extracurricular activities and games.
  6. Aadhar card of the candidates
  7. College leaving certification or transfer certificate.
  8. Birth certificate of the candidate
  9. Domicile certification of the candidates or parent, whichever is applicable

Lady Brabourne College M.Sc and MA Admission 2025

At the postgraduate level, LBC offers Master’s programs in Geography, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Bengali, Political Science and English. Candidates must hold B.Sc in the concerned disciplines if they wish to apply for M.Sc courses at LBC. For M.A courses, candidates who have passed Bachelor’s in Arts with at least 50% aggregate marks are eligible to apply. Admissions will be made as per the university norms. 60% of the total intake will be merit-based, and the university will conduct the admissions. The college will conduct an entrance exam for the remaining 40% of seats.

Key Points for Admission:

  • For M.A Political Science, no admission test will be conducted by the college under the remaining 40% seats. Admissions to these seats will also be based on merit in qualifying examination.
  • Qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates is 40% in the qualifying exam, candidates belonging to SC/ ST category from other than West Bengal state, will be considered as general candidates.
