The Catholic clergy, known as Jesuits of the Andhra Jesuit Province, are in charge of running the large, environmentally friendly campus of Loyola Academy (LA). They are members of the Society of Jesus, an International Catholic Religious Order that was established by St. Ignatius of Loyola. In 1976, Rev. Fr. T. Baliah SJ established Loyola Academy in Alwal, Secunderabad, Telangana. At first, there was an Associate Degree in Chemical Technology and an Intermediate course available. Other undergraduate programs were subsequently launched in 1978 and graduate programs in 1993. Autonomous status for degree programs and postgraduate programs was awarded to Loyola Academy in 1992 and 2010, respectively. In 2008, Loyola Academy received the title of A College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) from UGC in recognition of its accomplishments and exemplary pursuit of higher education requirements.
Furthermore, the college was re-accredited in 2011 with a A rating (3.50 out of 4.00 CGPA) after being recognized by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2005. For the consecutive years 2017–18 and 2018–19, our college was ranked between 100 and 150 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).
