Ph.D admission

Mithibai College offers a PhD program at doctoral level. It offers PhD in 7 disciplines in Commerce, Zoology, English, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Botany, Microbiology. Admission to this course will be granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the PET (Ph.D Entrance Test).

Selection criteria

1. Selection for the Ph.D. courses of Mithibai College is based on an entrance test (PET) and interview conducted by the University of Mumbai.
2. The entrance result which is accepted for admission includes. PET/NET/GATE/SET/JRF along with their master’s and graduation degrees.

M.A and M.Sc Entrance Test Details

The entrance test details for admissions to M.A. and M.Sc programs are mentioned below.

1. A computer-based test (CBT) of 100 questions will be conducted by Mithibai College. Each question is of one mark and a total of 100 minutes will be given to complete the test.
2. The interview of the selected students will be in front of the departments in which they have applied for PG.
3. Registration for completing the online application for admission to Mithibai College's common entrance exam can be done through https://sdc-appap2.svkm.ac.in:50201/irj/portal or https://mithibai.ac.in/.
4. To generate the merit list, entrance test scores, interview scores, and marks scored in UG semester exams will be used. 60% weightage is assigned to the entrance test, 20% to the interview, and another 20% to UG marks.

PhD Entrance Test Details

1. 50% of questions will be asked from research methodology and another 50% from course-specific in the PET.
2. The validity of PET is three years from the date of declaration of results.
3. PET will only take place at the college and is conducted online.
4. Students who are taking admissions in PhD in the different stream from which they have completed the PG are required to attempt an aptitude test from the subject in which they are applying PhD and PET from the subject from which they have completed the PG.
5. Candidates who have passed the UGC-NET, INSPIRE, CIR, GATE, and other exams, or who are JRF holders are not required to appear in PET.
6. The students who have passed the PET will be called for an interview round.
7. The final merit list will be generated after the interview process is completed.
