Silicon Institute of Technology is affiliated with Biju Patnaik University of Technology. There are two campuses, the primary and first of which lie in Infocity, Bhubaneswar. The second campus, Silicon West, lies on the outskirts of Sambalpur; both campuses have residential arrangements. SiliconTech made it to Band 151-300 in NIRF 2023 for 'Innovation' (previously ARIIA) by the Ministry of Education, a distinction shared by only four Odisha universities. In 2022, it secured 161 in engineering, affirming its dedication to academic excellence and innovation.
Silicon offers 11 undergraduate programs at SiliconTech, situated in Bhubaneswar, which focuses on circuit branches, whereas Silicon West in Sambalpur primarily offers core branches of engineering. The qualifying entrance examination for regular admissions is JEE Mains 2023, with entries facilitated via e-counselling conducted by the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) 2023. Additionally, Silicon admits students into the third semester through OJEE 2023 for lateral entry admissions, following the qualifying entrance examination and counselling process. Currently, the SiliconTech campus admits 720 students through regular admissions and 72 through lateral entry admissions.
Candidates who have completed their 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised Indian Board with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, alongside Computer Science/IT/Chemistry/Biochemistry/Biology as an optional subject, are eligible to apply for admissions. The minimum aggregate score required in Physics, Mathematics, and the chosen optional subject is 45%. However, students from reserved categories must secure a minimum aggregate of 40%.
Lateral Entry applicants must have studied Mathematics in Class 12 and possess a B.Sc. or Diploma in Engineering in the respective branch for the desired admission

Candidates may directly enrol for provisional admissions at the institute, becoming part of Silicon's application database. Selection for provisional admission is based on JEE Main NTA scores, academic credentials, program preferences, and campus choices. Successful candidates receive notification emails. Temporary admission processes offer online or offline completion. It ensures confirmed admission in the chosen branch, regardless of OJEE counselling outcomes, during SPOT admissions. Silicon's Admissions Counseling Cell aids students and parents in understanding OJEE counselling, program selection, and successful counselling completion for entries.
Candidates without a preferred program admission can visit Silicon during spot admissions. The admissions team assists through the process, allocating seats based on program vacancies.
Annual study expenses at Silicon range from Rs.1,50,000-2,50,000, varying by campus, residency type, and lodging preferences (AC/Non-AC). Silicon aids in securing bank loans for a four-year study period. Student volunteers guide candidates to engage with on-campus bank representatives, leveraging the institution's strong placement record for loan facilitation.
The B. Tech. Lateral Entry Program is an inventive initiative enabling admission for students who have successfully completed a 3-year Diploma in Engineering, a B.Sc. degree, or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks. Through this program, students can attain a B. Tech. degree. This program offers a unique pathway for qualified individuals to further their education and earn a B. Tech. degree, leveraging their prior academic achievements in related fields.
