Is it possible for students to choose to work in multiple departments?
No, the student will be assigned to any department's course work and/or project work. It is recommended to choose the department that best suits the student's major, however the exchange student may express preferences.
How will student be notified if they are accepted?
Both the applicant and the international office of their home university will get an email with the admissions decision. If necessary, the original admission letter will be forwarded to the Home International Office for visa requirements.
Do students need to submit their application forms in hard copy?
No, a soft copy of the application form and any supporting documentation can be emailed to the home university's foreign office or exchange coordinator.
What is the cost of living? What's covered?
The cost is 150 euros per month for a two-in-one air-conditioned room with a double bed, and 250 euros per month for a single room with air conditioning. Airport transfers, Indian food, air-conditioned lodging, Wi-Fi, gym access, and transportation between the lodging and the institution are all included in the aforementioned fees.
How may students exchange their money for Indian rupees?
An approved agent will be sent to the campus by the Vel Tech International Office to exchange at least 200 euros. As an alternative, the International Office may be contacted to obtain the currency exchange agent's contact information. Although there may be additional conversion fees, conversion at the airport or through any other agent is also possible.
When a student arrives at the Chennai airport, who should they contact?
A member from the Directorate of International Relations may be booked for pickup services; at least two days before to the planned departure, the member receiving the contact information will be notified. The student must provide arrival information at least seven working days in advance, including the carrier name, flight number, arrival date, and time.
How can I locate my accommodations as a student?
Accommodations on campus will be assigned prior to their arrival in India. Mr. Arun, the Accommodation In-Charge (+91 96005 70625). The vehicle will be picked up from the airport and dropped off to the lodging.
What are the legalities and immigration process when I get to Vel Tech?
It is the foreigner's responsibility to complete the processes at the Foreigner Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) upon arrival. The International Directorate will support all of these procedures. · Within 24 hours of your arrival, fill out Form C. · Within a week of your arrival, fill out Form S. · Registration in the e-FRRO Portal is necessary within 14 days of arrival if the visa is endorsed and its validity exceeds 180 days. · In your presence, our Directorate of International Relations will handle the formalities.
Do both the university campus and student hostel have Wi-Fi?
Yes, upon student arrival, the hostel manager will provide them user ID and password to access the Wi-Fi. Campus specifics When they get on campus, our teammate will share Wi-Fi.
What sort of food can I expect at the university and hostel?
Pancake, Pasta, Noodles, Macaroni, French Toast, Boiled Egg, Scrambled Egg, Sandwich, Corn Flakes, Jam, Milk, Fruits, Rice, Fried Rice, Curry, Finger Chips, Vegetable Salad, Mashed Potato, Dal, Dosa, Chapatti, Dessert. University (lunch): Fried rice, chicken gravy, chapatis, soup, rice, and yogurt.
Where can students purchase necessities?
From supermarkets, where a one-time car service will be set up upon your arrival, or from small shops close to the hostel.
