BHU PET-2025 General Eligibility

 Minimum Eligibility and Duration of Courses under Postgraduate Entrance Test (BHU-PET) 

  • Candidates are advised to read the Relaxation in minimum eligibility for Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribes (ST)/Other Backward Classes (OBC)/ Persons with Disability (PWD) candidates given under Clause 2 and Notes relating to minimum eligibility requirements given under Clause 3. 
  • The University teaches three types of courses, namely (a) General Courses, (b) Professional Courses and (c) Special Courses, which are run on a self-financing basis and have a higher fee 
  •  The duration of all courses is 4 Semesters (2 Years) with some exceptions. The details are mentioned wherever the course is not of 4 semesters (2 years).

M.P.Ed. (Master of Physical Education) COQP18 B.P.Ed. with 50% marks OR Four-year B.P.Ed. (Professional) with 50% marks.
Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) COQP12 Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks. Selection includes CUET, group discussion, and interview.
Masters in Corporate Communication Management COQP11 Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with 50% marks. Selection includes CUET, group discussion, and interview.

FACULTY OF COMMERCE 

Course Eligibility Criteria
M.Com. B.Com (Hons.)/ B.Com./ B.Com.(Hons.)-FMM under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, excluding subjects where only pass marks are required.
MBA (Foreign Trade) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
MBA (Risk and Insurance) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
MBA (Financial Management) Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

For the MBA courses, admission will also depend on CUET marks, group discussion, and interview performance, with the combined weightage for GD and interview being 20% of the total marks.

FACULTY OF EDUCATION

M.Ed. (Master of Education) At least 50% marks or equivalent grade in any of the following: (i) B.Ed. (ii) B.A. B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed., (iii) B. EI. Ed. (iv) D. EI. Ed. with an undergraduate/postgraduate degree (50% marks in each) or any equivalent grade.
B.Ed. (Languages) At least 50% marks in Bachelor's Degree (or Master's Degree) in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanities/Commerce or Engineering (55% for Science/Mathematics specialization).
B.Ed. (Science) At least 50% marks in Bachelor's Degree (or Master's Degree) in Sciences/Social Sciences/Humanities/Commerce or Engineering (55% for Science/Mathematics specialization).

M.Ed. Special Education (V.I.) Graduate under 10+2+3 pattern plus B.Ed. Special Education (VI) or equivalent qualification, with at least 50% marks.
M.A. Education Graduate under 10+2+3 pattern with Education (Hons.) or having Education as a subject during any of the three years or any graduate with B.Ed. securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.

FACULTY OF PERFORMING ARTS 

Course Eligibility Criteria
MPA in Vocal Music (Hindustani, Dhrupad) (a) Undergraduate Degree in BPA/B.Mus/B.A. (Hons) in Music in the concerned subject with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Practical marks for all years should be at least 55%. OR (b) Any Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3 pattern) with at least 50% marks and one of the following: - Prabhakar (Prayag Sangeet Samiti) - Visharad (Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth) - Visharad Purna (Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal) - Vid (Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya) - Bhaskar (Pracheen Kala Kendra) - Vid (Raja Maan Singh Tomar University) - Equivalent diploma (6 years duration) (c) The aggregate of practical marks should not be less than 55%. (d) Admission based on CUET marks and practical exam. (e) Upper age limit: 40 years as of 1st July 2024.
MPA in Instrumental Music (Sitar, Flute) Same as MPA in Vocal Music, with the specific focus on Instrumental Music (Sitar or Flute).
MPA in Instrumental Music (Tabla) Same as MPA in Vocal Music, with the specific focus on Instrumental Music (Tabla).
MPA in Dance: Kathak/Bharat Natyam (a) Undergraduate Degree in BPA/B.Mus/B.A. (Hons) in Music with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Practical marks for all years should be at least 55%. LL.B. (Hons.) (Bachelor of Laws) - B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./Shastri (10+2+3 pattern) with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, considering all subjects in the three years, except those with pass marks that don't contribute to the total. OR - Any other Degree under 10+2+3 pattern recognized by the Bar Council of India for LL.B. admission, with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. - Candidates with degrees obtained through open universities without basic qualifications are not eligible.
LL.M. (Master of Laws) - 3-Year LL.B. after Graduation under 10+2+3 pattern, or 5-Year LL.B. under 10+2+5 pattern, recognized by the Bar Council of India. - A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in the LL.B. Degree.
LL.M. Course in Human Rights & Duties Education - 3-Year LL.B. after Graduation under 10+2+3 pattern, or 5-Year LL.B. under 10+2+5 pattern, recognized by the Bar Council of India. - A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate in the LL.B. Degree.

FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES 

Course Eligibility Criteria
M.A. in Economics - B.A. (Hons.)/B.A./B.Sc. (Hons)/B.Sc./B.Com./B.Tech. under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized university. - Requires knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics.
M.A. in History - Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
M.A. in Political Science - B.A. (Hons.)/B.A./B.Sc. (Hons)/B.Sc. under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, and must have studied Political Science in all three years of undergraduate study.
M.A. in Psychology - Psychology Stream: B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology or studied Psychology for all three years at B.A./B.Sc. level. - Non-Psychology Stream: Graduates in Science, Engineering, & Medical Sciences without Psychology at UG level.
M.A. in Sociology - B.A. (Hons.)/B.A./B.Sc. (Hons)/B.Sc. under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate, and must have studied Sociology in all three years of undergraduate study.
Master of Personnel Management and Industrial Relations - Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. - Admission based on CUET, group discussion, and interview (20% weightage for GD and interview).

Masters of Arts in Integrated Rural Development and Management - Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. - 3 seats for sponsored candidates and 3 seats for foreign nationals.
M.A. in Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy - Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
M.A. in Economics (Energy Economics) - Graduates with a minimum of 50% marks in B.A. (Economics), B.A. (Hons.) Economics, B.Com, B.Sc., B.Tech., or MBA. - Must have studied Mathematics/Statistics/Physics/Business Mathematics at UG/Intermediate level.
M.A. in Heritage Management - Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
M.A. in Archival Studies & Management (Under IOE) - Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks from a recognized university.
M.A. in Gender Studies (Under IOE) - Graduation in any discipline with at least 50% marks. - Fee for foreign students: Rs. 1,00,000 per annum.

M.Sc. in Zoology B.Sc. (Hons.)/ B.Sc. under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Science subjects. Chemistry must have been studied at the Graduate level.
M.Sc. in Botany B.Sc. (Hons.)/ B.Sc. under 10+2+3 pattern with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Science subjects. Chemistry must have been studied at the Graduate level.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications) - At least 60% marks in aggregate in BCA, BIT, B.Tech, B.Sc. (with Computer Science) or equivalent degree, or B.Tech/B.E. in any branch (with bridge courses required), or B.A./B.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics (with bridge courses). - (PWD candidates: Total disability not exceeding 50%)
M.Sc. in Environmental Science Minimum of 50% marks (equivalent GPA) in B.Sc. (Hons)/B.Sc. under 10+2+3, as well as 10 & 10+2 examinations.
M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology B.Sc. (Hons.)/B.Sc. under 10+2+3 pattern with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Must have studied two subjects from Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Life Science, Environmental Sciences.

(ii) Graduates with MBBS/BDS/B. Tech./B.E./B. Pharm. degrees with at least 50% marks.

BHU PET-2025 Eligibility FAQs 

Who is eligible for IIT BHU M Pharm?

BPharma or equivalent qualification in Pharmacy with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA is the basic eligibility for MPharma course offered at IIT Varanasi. SC/ST candidates need a minimum of 50% aggregate or 5.5 CGPA to be eligible for the course.

How many rounds are there in BHU?

After the completion of the regular Combined Allotment Process (CAP) consisting of 7 rounds for PG programs, BHU may hold Spot Rounds if there are still vacant seats available.

Is the BHU entrance exam tough?

The BHU entrance exam is quite challenging, as the competition is fierce. To secure admission, candidates must have valid scores in accepted exams like CUET-PG, CAT, BHU PET, and others. While cracking the BHU entrance exam can be tough, it is not an impossible task.
