Dr Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, known as Dr Harisingh Gour University (DHSGSU) ,is a central university in Madhya Pradesh. Formerly known as the University of Saugar, Saugor or Sagar University, DHSGSU is the oldest and biggest university in Madhya Pradesh that was established in the year 1946. Dr. Harisingh Gour University is recognised by the UGC and accredited with an -˜A+' grade by the NAAC.
Dr. Hari Singh Gour University offers 30+ Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate, and Doctorate programs in Humanities, Science And Technology, Business Management, Journalism and Mass Communication, and Education. Admission to UG and PG courses at DHSGSU is based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the NTA.

Dr Harisingh Gour University campus is 5 Km east of Sagar city, and its campus covers an area of 1312.89 acres over Pathariya hills connected to the Vindhya Range, surrounded by lush green forest (about 100 acres). DHGSGU has 36 University teaching departments, 11 schools, and 19 affiliated colleges covering various districts of M.P. The university offers services on its campus such as a Bank, Post office, STD booth, Employment and Guidance Bureau, 3 canteens including a fully furnished Indian Coffee House (ICH), and a shopping complex. Facilities at Dr. Harisingh Gour University are as follows:
- Bank: Dr Harisingh Gour University has two nationalised bank branches for students and staff. The State Bank of India and the Central Bank of India branch is inside the university campus.
- Hostel: The central university has separate hostels for girls and boys with an occupancy of more than 1000+ students. There are 4 hostel accommodations for boys and girls, with 400 and 700 available rooms.
- Mental health counselling: Dr Harisingh Gour University has incorporated a mental health counselling committee to ensure community well-being. It conducts sessions and counselling for students and staff members.
- Mahila Club: The Mahila Club was established in 1971 as a platform of activities for women enrolled in the university. It ensures the well-being of the girl students on the university campus.
